^ The flames from the National Democratic Headquarters are quickly spreading. According to the state media, the flames are dangerously close to the National Museum.
It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms.
EDIT: The people are apparently shouting "The Army and People are one!" Downtown Cairo has turned into a battlefield.
EDIT 2: The President is addressing the people

The President guy is quoted to have said "there's a thin line between freedom and chaos", eh heh heh heh.

"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"My wife's cousing lives in Cairo. I am now worried for her safety.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Mubuak is asking the govt. to resign.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.^^^ Heh.
So after watching the speech, it seems that he is attempting to distance himself from any blame. He stated that he is sacking the cabinet but he himself refuses to resign.
He doesn't seem to realize that he is the problem.

Now that I'm thinking about it, is the Nile flammable?
i. hear. a. sound.Nile River =/= Cuyahoga River
EDIT: Oh dear, the protestors did not like that speech.

Right right, I got my locations mixxed up. ...still curious.

i. hear. a. sound.Thats right Mubuak, throw out the last few people who might have given a damn about you.
Least the Tunisian president had the decency to throw himself out first... well, if he wasn't just fleeing for his life.
The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.Because Raw Power's not in the thread.
"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"Wait, is it getting really ugly in Egypt now?
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Well, I made a few updates on the situation on the last page. However, I am finding it difficult to come up with an accurate assessment of Egypt without sounding alarmist.
Don't know how much further this will escalate, but from I am seeing through my livefeed, a lot of Egypt is burning.
I'm sorry pvtnum.

A curiosity: [1]◊
"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"Alarmism is needed sometimes.
Like, when a country is poised to jump off a cliff.
^ Or when that happens, good grief.

Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.^This live feed is awesome; then again my Arabic is shit.
I am sorry it is one thing to get rid of the government but trashing the city unnecessarily ie setting it on fire is not a good thing.
The protest in Egypt were far from peaceful and non-violent. Starting fires and throwing stones is never peaceful.
balloon: What is your obsession with the anarchists on the left? I have yet to see peaceful anarchists on the left. Some anarchist asshole always throws rocks and turns into a firebug and starts smashing store fronts.
Who watches the watchmen?*used to be an anarchist, attended (local) left-wing protests, was never violent*
I'm sorry to say that prior to this, I have not been keeping up to date with political developments in Egypt at all. Maybe it's reached the point where a little noise and upheaval is really what it takes to get any change made.

Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffYeah but fucking up someone innocent bystanders life is not acceptable. Neither is torching your nations museum. I could care less about government buildings and offices but when you start fucking up joe store owners life by messing up his store or what have you that is going too far.
Bobby: If only there were more like you in Britain especially in the more recent events.
Who watches the watchmen?Yeah, torching innocents' property is not cool.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffIts the main reason why I dont support revolutions like this, unless its REALLY REALLY bad. Maybe it is, but innocents should not have to be harmed sadly.
^^^^ There's not much to keep up with. Prior to a couple weeks ago, politics have been essentially the same over the last twenty years in the Arab World. In most countries, you even have the same people in charge.
While below the surface, tensions have been growing due to demographic and technological changes.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayTanks are patrolling in Cairo near the US and UK embassy.
Obama criticizes the government action.
No statement yet from the UN.
Protests are currently ongoing in front of the Egyptian embassy in Washington and the White House.

For some reason, Mubarak's actions are reminding me of an unholy union between the Shah of Iran and Nicolae Ceausescu...
@Bobby G: This is not "a little noise". This is a country of almost 80 million violently rejecting their government on a national scale. And this is ins't a spark that you can say won't travel: E Gypt is following Tunisia, and Jordanians (sp?) have rioted too.

If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.
They better be guarding those museums.
