He can still be annoying, if your monsters can be targeted. But yeah, way more powerful stuff exists. A currently forbidden card(TCG only) in Apoqliphort Towers, for instance. It is unaffected by all monster effects that are lower than its level(which is 10. Do note that a monster that is an Xyz has to be 10 or higher, same with a regular monster's level, to actually effect it), all spells, all traps, has 3000 attack, makes all special summoned monsters lose 500 attack points, and once per turn(the controller of Towers, to clarify), they can make you send a monster from the field or hand to the graveyard. Requiring 3 Qli monsters as tributes barely means anything anymore, especially since it wasn't that hard for them to get that out, nor does it help that there's a new card that can act as 3 tributes for a Apoqliphort monster(Qlife's End). And if that wasn't enough, most of what you can summon won't get through Qli's own backrow, so it was an extremely potent card to deal with.

Literally the only usable response to it currently is using a Kaiju, but that's assuming their backrow makes it even remotely playable. They can flip over Mask of Restrict, which prevents tributing, or Vanity's Emptiness, which prevents all special summons, or even tech in Majesty's Fiend to prevent any monster effects from activating. It's not like Towers needs to use its effect as is, since it's still a 3k attack monster that makes most of what the opponent summons too weak to be effective. Note, if they don't have backrow, you can remotely do something by using Utopia the Lightning to make it 5000 attack during damage calculation. But the problem is they always have backrow, so that's not as feasible as Kaijus in the meta.

And there is more than one of him.

Raidraptors got Ultimate Falcon, who can be cheated out using Last Strix and one of two Rank Up spells, or using Blaze Falcon / Etranger with Double Doom Force. He also lowers the attack power of everything your opponent controls during every end phase by 1000 and if he fails in that, the opponent takes 1000 damage. He can also lock down effects period with a detach AND lower attack power.

Lyrical Luscinia got Independent Nightingale, who can be cheated out and then tributed for The Tyrant Neptune, who, by copying its effect, gains its attack and effects; which are that it gains 500 for each level it has, and its immune to everything. Tyrant Neptune is Level 10, resulting in a 6000 attack power Towers, who cannot be Utopia the Lightning'd, though Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon can still attack over it.

Oh, and that last one? Works with Instant Fusion.

Note that generally, Independent Nightingale isn't that bad on its own; it starts at Level 1 and 1000 ATK, and is a fusion monster that belongs to an Xyz-focused archetype. Still, the combo that Nick described is fairly scary, if not meta-worthy.

Ultimate Falcon isn't nearly as bad because it's far less consistent. Gotta draw that RUM card. Annoying, though, no questioning that. Quants have their own version too. I forget its name, but it's a high rank card as is.

As for Nightingale, this is a far bigger issue, since it's becoming an issue in the OCG as well. Instant Fusion doesn't help this case either, mostly cause it doesn't negate the effect of the monster summoned by its effect. This is what leads to such problems. Otherwise it'd be used more as an extra tool for helping summon stuff instead of actually creating majorly powerful boards.

[up] Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus. Which is actually redundant, since "magnus" means great.

I've been experimenting with Tyrant Neptune, and another horrifically mean thing to do with him is to tribute this one Gem Knight monster that lets you get more normal summons and Thousand Eyes Restrict.

As a result, you have a 2300 atk at the start monster that locks down attacks, steals something, and is usually well supported.

Point being there are some scary, scary combos in the game.

I am now on Devpro as WanderlustWLW

Mainly, just wanted to build a deck idea I'd had a little bit ago. I may duel eventually. I honestly wish that the Generation Duels had a "no pendulum/extra deck" variant, with most (non-broken) main deck cards still available.

Wow so Konami didn't even stop at Beelze or Brionac.

Nope. Brionac actually got eratta'd, though, so it's off the banlist (I think).

Beelze is far easier to defeat in comparison to Brionac. If you don't stop Brionac right away, or aren't using monsters with targeting protection, you can kiss your board goodbye. Beelze is more annoying, but you can still beat him with all kinds of targeting cards. Compulsory Evacuation Device(same other bounce/spin options), Number 101: Silent Honor Ark, have a monster out that has Moon Mirror Shield on it(meaning you win the battle no matter what)...

And Konami just gave Amazoness a Fusion Monster that makes all Amazonesses unable to be destroyed by cards or targeted and it pierces too.

Everything gets Lio Dancer protection.

I suddenly get the feeling I'll be facing a lot more Amazoness decks, considering one of their monsters prevents destruction by battle, and the other fusion stops any attacks on monsters except itself.

Well, I saw a guy from ygopro, Shark Ygopro I think his name was, and he was using pretty official looking Amazoness Empress and Amazoness Liger.

Unless I'm mistaken.

Ygopro and Devpro do allow for custom cards. I forget the details, though.

Hmm.

Also, Gold Sarcophagus at 3 and Pot of Acquisitiveness really make my banish deck pretty good.

Do you know about the All Consuming Glutton?

I figure given its effect it might be of interest.

There is also a Gandora card that gets stronger based on the number of banished cards.

All these summoning types are getting way too complicated.

However, if I'm reading this right, it seems that they're actually using this as a chance to cut down on extra deck spam and pendulum summons.

Also... are they gonna try to make Columns a thing again?

  • Extra Deck Monsters, like Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and Link, cannot be Summnoned to the Main Monster Zone, beware!

List of things that just took a big smelly shit on 99% of the game.

(unless a Link Monster is summoned first)

It seems that Link Monsters (unable to defend, you can have one, they change the game map) are kinda like deckmasters? Except in that toyetic NEW MEANS SALES way Konami loves.
