To be fair, Karalora specifically said "some cases" instead of saying all of them.

In any case, I don't see why it isn't obvious that I was referring to taking the child away specifically in cases where other options DON'T seem like better ideas.

The child's mental well-being could not be worse in a negligent home like that.

You don't know that. Like I said, young children don't know about misspent money, but they know where they live and who their family is.

Secondly, there are those who even with education and psychiatric treatment would not suddenly turn into the perfect single parent.

Of course, but you should never start by assuming that's the case and taking the child away. You should give the negligent parent a few shots at straightening out.

I think M Ajor Tom doesn't really care about the child and wants to punish the parent for getting government aid because that's despicable and for misusing it which is downright evil. "Weal ticket" being the telltale.
