It looks and feels pretty robust to me, but I'm really bad at properly assessing the durability of a book until it actually has pages falling out. DTRPG is usually pretty good, though; I've got a few POD Exalted books from them that are still intact a few years on, but those were paperback.
The best I can offer is that if the pages start falling out I'll let you know.
Current state of the Arc assignments.
Complete with a few more names and descriptions.
"Angels are like magical girls and also Osiris." Ah, Chuubo's.
I was hoping Cautionary would be ready to go. Gatekeeper seems interesting though.
Oh hey, this seems like a pretty good tokusatsu arc too. Makes sense, anime and tokusatsu have overlap and have borrowed from each other over the years. In particular, the character I thought was good for Alchemist (Kamen Rider OOO) looks like he might have this too.
So I finally found a Chuubo's IRC game...
Run by Rand Brittain. :B
I ship it.Hm. So by Arc 1, no Gatekeeper is gonna be kept out of a Specialist's hidden world unless they want to be.
I suppose that depends on whether or not the Specialist's hidden world includes members of the Gatekeeper's Other, doesn't it?
Not by my read.
Oh, you meant that. Yeah, I'd guess that'd be the case then. In general I find it surprising that all level 1 Arc powers are Wishes. That lends itself to a lot of flexibility.
I find it a bit funny that Jade's use of Consult is really not that useful. I guess it gives her a certain kind of character - she's already knowledgeable enough that she doesn't really need it. I think I understand what Jenna meant when she said Gatekeeper makes Angels holders of authority - with proper use you could get a lot of things done very efficiently.
If Strategists do end up having Gatekeeper, it gives them a certain kind of atmosphere, too - it means that they have quite a lot of knowledge too. Between Sentimental and Accursed you get where their power and creation of things comes from, but Gatekeeper probably explains where they get being the commanders from afar of the Excrucians.
I also wonder what a Strategist's Other is. Is it straightforwardly Creation, or is that too wide? Are some of them the kind that have the Lands Beyond Creation / the Bleak Academy as the Other, and decided to side with them against Creation? It's worth a thought.
Sorry, should have been more clear there.
Gatekeeper-as-written is a weird arc to fit to Strategists, since it specifies that the Other is inimical to humanity specifically and the Strategists are notably unfond of humanity's native habitat and tend to be specifically opposed to many of its favorite toys. They seem to fit the Other role more than the guy interceding with it.
Also, if Textrix the Deacon has that arc then the guy dying of lost faith needs to devote himself to some principle.
Someone I know on rpgnet has floated the idea that this might work for Rose Quartz.
Makes sense; Rose could conceivably work as an Angel, ordinary or Fallen.
Fortitude's beta PDF is going out /right now/
I ship it.I got around to flipping through it, and I love the character picture for the vampire. The immortal, seductive creature of ze night is shown using their superstrength to...tow a car. As part of Children of the Night Towing Agency. It's a very Fortitude picture.
And the "exotic foreigner" Bonds are still the best thing ever.
This new Arc does something I was trying to figure out how you could do, which endears it to me kind of immediately.
Yeah, when I saw it I was reminded of your arc, Inari. I think it'd be better off as Immortal Emptiness, too.
I can't believe I forgot about this thread, it's been kinda dead around here lately. Have you guys seen the Christmas content Jenna posted over December? Some really good stuff is in there.
Yep. I can't believe the Christmas supplement turned into a freaking cosmic horror setting.
Been having thoughts about tokusatsu in Chuubo's, which is unfortunately among the most obscure possible overlaps of interest to have.
Chuubo's is basically a Nobilis High School AU where getting hit with a dodgeball makes you an Excrucian, so it didn't seem that incongruent to me.
Do share your thoughts about these multicolored superheroes.
Hm...
Well, is it well put together?
