I'd prefer the second and third panel of the Sinfest strip. It's awesome.
Will making it a two-by-two mean making each panel too small to see well? Nevermind, the first one is a two*two and isn't even at maximum width for the page.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.4x4... I think I prefer 2x1 tho (why is panel 4 important?):
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.
Here's a thought. Panels two and three from this strip are absolutely essential to the definition of the trope. In one of the strips on the page, two angels are watching him dig and IIRC they comment on his braving the fires of hell for his love. What if we made a collage of those two panels from that strip and panels two and three of the strip we've been working with?

Also, panels 1 and 4 show the fire, which is nice.
Edit: Ninja'd.

Rhymes with "Protracted.""Between her being a devil and the cave-like BG (oh, yeah, and the mention of "down here"), would panels 2 and 3 of the above suggested strip work?"
...and the reaction shot doesn't seem important :P Please elaborate.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.IMO, it adds a nice touch...it's not absolutely essential, but it shows that his effort wasn't wasted and the affection is mutual. Also, see my edit to my previous post.

I like the image in rodney's post. I would not be against showing the angels talking instead of the first panel (unless it turns out really ugly), but I think it's fine as it is.
Which? :) Posted two (2x2 and 2x1).
Would like to see the angels talking/digging strip.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Post 29. Actually, I'm not sure which picture would look better in the page, but I don't think I want more than 3 panels if we do the vertical one.

This one has the boy digging and the angels talking about how sweet and heroic it is.
And looking at it again, it just very well may be better than the other one.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Hmm. Now that I've seen it, I think it would be awkward if he was still digging a hole in the first panel, and then suddenly he actually is in hell.
I wouldn't be against it, though.

Second panel only of that:
(also, repost◊ of the 2x1 image)

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. Here's what I was thinking about...may be overkill.
EDIT: Man, that's fuzzy at forum size...the wiki size is cleaner.

That works too, but I like the first 2x2 just for how much it drives home the Heartwarming Moment.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyYeah, I'm liking the previous versions better (sorry Willbyr ^__^;)
I don't think the image needs to show how he got to hell. The demon girl saying "you came down here to save me?" shows that he came there by his own will, which is all we really need.
It's kind of blurry, though.

Infinite Tree: an experimental storyNo problem I'm happy enough with the two-panel version to think it could work on the page, I just think that adding in the last panel is the icing on the cake of the Heartwarming Moment as was mentioned before, and the last is mainly to make it abundantly clear that we're taking the trope title as literally as possible with no guesswork needed.
I support 2x1 or even the 1x1 angels/digging one. IMO, the fewer panels, the better.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. If you're chopping it up to that extent, then why bother even using it?
Try to stick as close to its original format as possible.
I'm quite happy with the four panel one.
Fight smart, not fair.Personally, I think the original 4x4 explains this trope pretty darn well.
Showing how he got there is definitely pointless and doesn't add a thing.
Everybody Loves A Yandere.

Nominations for replacement images:
The first panel isn't really essential, but making a 2x2 of the whole thing would definitely reduce the "hanging into the examples" factor, so I'd be fine with that.
