Subpage images: High Octane Nightmare Fuel

I'm just thinking that, since horror is a whole genre of games, there ought to be something scarier than an admittedly well-drawn but still very... Side scroller-y monster.
Well, here's a bunch of random GIS pics:

Of the ones Platypus linked to, I would consider Alone In The Dark the most fitting.

Of the ones I linked I'd say a slightly cropped limbo 4 is best (for the classiness), followed by by silent hill 2 and dead space 3.

The VG subpage image is pretty horrible. Even if that head was immediately obvious, it's not scary. At all. Not even disturbing. Or squick-worthy. It is nothing.

I'm doing a search for comic book subpage suggestions. It's incredibly hard to find results that are neither narmy nor NSFW. I'd love something from the Gaspard de la nuit trilogy, (Check it out if you have the opportunity, it's incredibly cool) but unfortunately the internet doesn't seem to know it exists. Maybe that's for the best, since most of the horror there is the creeping, context-based kind and would end up being JAFAAC-y. Anyway, back on topic, here's what I found:

In an earlier thread, I mentioned the Ecco one and a few people said it was fitting enough to the page. Someone said that a game series that had its own subsection shouldn't provide the page image for the main section, but I don't recall anyone saying that it wasn't scary enough.

In any case, I already pitched in on the new set of pics.

At the beginning of this thread, there was a discussion about replacing the (then) current VG subsection image - which was from Mortal Kombat - With the Ecco pic. It seems like the Ecco pic was replaced with the MK one even earlier, though.

Also, for the convenience of everyone, here are the links to the comic books and video games subsections.

The only reason that picture was picked was because there wasnt any better ones up for consideration, now there are.

Come to think of it, maybe it WAS this very thread I was thinking of... which in turn leaves me wondering what people think now of the Mortal Kombat examples I mentioned earlier.

Until now I thought the only problem with the Ecco pic was that the Ecco series had its own subsection... so if using images from series that have their own subsections is still an option, what about the Zelda ones I mentioned earlier?

A wonderful little drawing of the most infamous scene in the series (and the most infamous example of getting stuff past the censors in the 16 bit era to boot.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't find gore that frightening when it's only half a square centimeter big. Therefore, I think an image from a 3D horror game would be better (It's not Fan Myopia, I haven't played any of the games i got pictures from). The image suggested for web original is fine with me, though.

When it comes to music videos, Nick Cave has done some decently creepy ones. If you think his dancing is Nightmare Retardant, you're watching it wrong.

Haven't watched those videos yet, but what I was asking was more so whether or not I may replace the Thriller one with the Perl Jam one for now.

Now, back to the anime section, I already mentioned the idea of using Yuki impaled by several sharp objects as the page image for that section, but alternatively, here are a few options from Blood Plus.

Ironically, not as much blood as the Yuki one, but arguably even more impactful because the kind of injury shown above just looks so much more BIZARRE.

EDIT: On a sidenote, I am not very familiar with the series, my assessment is based on seeing parts of it severely out of context.

Yeah, that's pretty frightening. I'm not sure what exactly is happening, but it doesn't look pleasant.

Well, here is the scene I got it from. I didn't watch the whole scene, but the impression I got from what of it I watched was that her skin was brittle for some reason, and giving her someone else's blood made it worse...

There is already a bit of discussion regarding the comic books section. I put up a bunch of suggestions near the top of the page, too.

Ah, I missed those. Of those, 5 and 6 are the only ones I would consider particularly fitting, though.

EDIT: On a sidenote, I already went ahead with the 3rd Blood Plus one for anime, since a couple other users agreed with using Blood Plus and I figured that image would be better than nothing.

EDIT again: Now, back to the Zelda one. Assuming first off that using an actual screenshot is preferable in itself, are any of the images in this post more fitting than the current subpage image?
