Kirby

The only time the 30fps bothers me is in some of the world maps. In gameplay, I've found that it doesn't really look like 30.

I mean, I can definitely tell the difference between 30 and 60, I can just honestly say that 30 doesn't bother me that much here. It runs smoothly, which is about all I ask for.

That is fucking amazing. So, when can we be friends with Queen Sectonia, the ENTIRE Star Dream, and Dark Matter?

Marx is looking awesome. Guess that confirms that Dream Friends can have wholly unique movesets instead of being derived from existing ones.

Still hoping for Adeleine and Taranza with modified Artist and Spider, but now I kinda want to see what playable Ribbon, Daroach, Magolor, and Susie would be like too.

Daroach would be awesome. I kind of hope Susie just has a miniature version of her own mech. Hey, Bonkers and Chef Kawasaki are possible Friends, so the size doesn't need to be an issue.

They should add a new mode where you fight all the previous final bosses of the franchise (Besides Dedede, of course), right down to the same gameplay style you fought them in.

March 28th, when Gooey is released.

I'd kill for Friend Adeleine or Ribbon, but that ain't happening.

I'd be surprised if they didn't add Adeleine at some point, considering they already have a moveset ready for her in the Artist ability.

Yeah, Adeleine feels like an inevitability at this point, which is exciting.

So is Star Allies even half as good as Robobot? Because I'm playing it right now and gosh darn, it's the perfect Kirby game.

Robobot is pretty grand. Return to Dreamland is still my favorite Kirby game of all time, but Robobot may just be a close second.

Star Allies feels like a step down from the previous three RTDL-engine games, but it's still a wonderful game (And despite his short screentime, Hyness is the best Kirby character in recent years, maybe all time).

I haven't finished Star Allies yet, but so far I'm enjoying it just as much as I enjoyed Robobot.

Spoilers, but is this a sufficiently deep-fried analysis of everything that happens in Star Allies?

OK, The final boss of Star Allies is spectacular. Absolutely well-designed and a good test case for a 3D Kirby game.

Beat The Return To Dreamland True Arena this morning, after failing again last night. Now, to cheese it with tornado!

Actually, I had been doing the regular arena with King, Knight and Bandana for most of my play time between last post and then. It would feel so much more like playing as Dedede if he could suck things up and use his hammer but infinite hammer toss is an ability this game clearly wasn't balanced for. It's easy enough as it is when getting hit doesn't result in a lost ability and you can just hit back.

Only three true arena bosses gave me trouble, Fatty Puffer Ex, Galacta Knight and MarxMagolor Soul. Don't know what had me off with puffer today but I really don't like Fatty ex and his invincible rolling anyway. Beat Galacta Knight for the first time yesterday, in this game, but had a sliver of health left and lost to Magolor Soul. Once you get to his "soul" Magolor actually is a little different from Marx. Where Marx Soul just takes Scratch Damage from pretty much everything Magolor Soul's problem is almost entirely in teleporting too much. That, and I suck and dodging the ice hammer.

So, having just beat Francisca for the second time and looking at her boss info, she and Flamberge are absolutely a lesbian couple, right? That's a big step for Kirby. I think this is one of the first official couples, period, much less a lesbian one.

I think they're sisters actually, unless it just means "sister" like a nun (which would also kinda preclude a romantic relationship).

Whether they are related by blood or related by sisterhood is unkinwon, since they are in a cult but also like....really gay coded.

Apparently the Japanese word used means "nun", and as we all know, Japan doesn't give one iota of a shit about accurately portraying Christianity. Pretty sure they're lesbians.

Unrelated, I just got to the Kracko fight and it made me realize just how much I want Kracko Jr. as a Dream Friend.

Hey, so, yesterday I did my first ever Twitch stream, of Kirby Star Allies' True Arena. First attempt was with Cleaning ability, which failed, but then did a Bomb run and won handily.

I'm going to stream it again in 57 minutes (change of the hour), if anybody is interested. The audience gets to vote on what ability they want me to use, or heckle me in the chat, or however else you want to participate.

Francisca and Flamberge are sisters. The director confirmed in an interview that their similar names were meant to imply they were sisters (it works better in Japanese, where their names are Fran Kiss and Fran Rouge, implying Fran is their surname), and Zan Partizanne's name is meant to make you ask why Zan Partizanne's name is different.

I guess nobody wanted to watch. Well, whatever. Your losses.
