Well, since Dreamland 3 and its bloody iris of doom, anyway; Nightmare is pretty benign as far as dark villains go, and the lone Dark Matter in Dreamland 2 is just a dark blob with an eye.

Though speaking of the Dark Matter from that game... why, how, and when did a piece of Dark Matter learn to be a master swordsman? I thought they were just mindless pieces of darkness exerting Zero's will?

I'm guessing that's the end result of a swordsman being possessed by Dark Matter for a particularly extended period- Even the brief possession stints Dedede's suffered resulted in no small degree of body warping- but who knows?

I sure said that!

It emerges from Dedede and takes that shape without possessing anything or anyone, though.

Maybe it just had a bit more will of its own than the other Dark Matter.

Reading some of the Triple Deluxe dev Miiverse posts really gives me a new appreciation for the level of effort and attention to detail HAL puts into their games. Can't wait 'til they start posting this stuff for Planet Robobot.

I tried the demo today. Never played a Kirby game in my life. Most of my Kirby exposure is through Smash Bros.

Why is playing as a pink puff inside Powered Armour so much fun?!

I've got great news for you: almost every kirby game is as fun as Robobot, even if the Robot mechanics are particularly fun.

The Kirby series as a whole is exceedingly good, and the chain from Super Star Ultra to today has been especially cool.

[up] Yep indeed! There's a reason it's one of my favorite game series.

Ultra breathed new life into the series and I'm so glad for that.

I hope the next game is another console game with local multiplayer, like RTD, though. I managed to rope my siblings into that and they enjoyed it.

Ooh, or another exploration-based game like Amazing Mirror, but with Super Star's engine? That'd be amazing, though not conducive at all to local multiplayer.

Some kind of especially big action-focused game with six player co-op and the return of Adeline and Ribbon?

An Amazing Mirror successor would be fantastic, that's still my fave. With treasures that actually do stuff except not really in comparison to treasures that do stuff via blocking.

I'd be down with an Amazing Mirror successor as long as they gave it a non-garbage map system.

[up][up]Each room on the map in Amazing Mirror is represented by a square rather than an actual outline of the room, meaning you have idea which door will lead to which other room or whether or not you can even access all the doors in a given room.

You have an idea where the door leads...because there are lines leading to the different rooms a door leads based on where they come from the square of the room you're in.

You don't need to have been through the door first...but that other thing is true, the could've been done better.

I've tried playing Amazing Mirror several times, and I could never get into it. Either the map was horrible or I was really stupid, because I could not figure out where I was supposed to go.

Sure, but if there's more than two doors in a room you're not going to know which will lead where. Not really a problem if you're just exploring, but very annoying if you're trying to get to a specific place. Even more annoying if at least one of the doors is one-way.

Amazing Mirror is a game that gets more obnoxious as you go through it, because the pool of places you haven't been shrinks rapidly and the map makes it hard to piece together what's left to seek out.

I sure said that!

Well it helps if those doors are on opposite sides of the room.

Though after checking, I'd say the major problem is that the lines on the map aren't always accurate to where the doors in the rooms are. Which is just an extension of the accessible doors problem.
