So, Fox News' head realizes that the rhetoric is getting inflammatory, and should be toned down. Should we expect to see any real change on that front?

I'm going to go with "no". Whatever gets ratings is what's going to go on the air.

^^ Not when you have others like Paul Krugman unashamedly going after the right even when everyone around them says knock it off for a minute.

[up][up]It is doubtful whether that sentence even has meaning, let alone relevance. You don't need to turn every topic into a slam at one of your favorite liberal targets.

Ailes seems like a pretty cool guy, given that he had a relatively realistic and common sense view of the situation.

This is a good move by Ailes and I applaud him for it. I don't think complaints "those cheap-shotting liberals" are all that justified in this thread, since Ailes is just catching up to Olbermann, who already made a full and unconditional apology for any rhetoric in that vein he'd ever made.

This is a nice, rare consensus we might see between the two ends of the spectrum that the country needs right now, let's not spoil it with "they aren't being as nice!", shall we?

Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.

Well I like Paul Krugman because he's an intelligent economist but however frustrating his pot-shots at the right are, he's not the media. He's just some guy who said something. Fox News is a national news station with much more responsibility and for that matter, is one of the organisations that chooses whether to quote Krugman and air it for everyone.

<Mod Hat ON>

This is not going to turn into a "But they do it too!" thread. NOT.

The topic: "What result is the directive from the head of Fox going to have?". Drift into how commentary will change and what it may change to, how or if the directive will be enforced, what other networks' reaction will be; and similar topics are all allowable. What some guy who isn't a Fox commentator says is not.
