Well since both dates were at the same place, that was pretty much bound to happen. Still better than the alternative.

The rational thing to do is to say "Hey, yeah, I kind of had a date, but I didn't want to say anything to you because we're just being casual and all" but of course, how often are people in this strip rational?

Depending on how much of a sport Peggy is regarding the casualness of their relationship, this could be either real bad, or real good.

He can't even remember Maura's name! BTW, when did she arrange that date with Gary? She only appeared on-panel with him once here before this current mini-arc, and she doesn't appear to have mentioned him at all from after that strip and until her last appearance before this mini-arc.

No, I meant before that. She's acting as if she's already got him to agree to have a date sometime ago, and is picking now to call in that agreement.

Evidently they had a little chat between Zii going off with DiDi and DiDi descending on him. In that time, she evidently hit him with full-wattage flirtation, and fixed up a provisional date. They had time while DiDi was with Zii.
