Why do you care about the opinion of a two-bit Youtube commentator? You seem oddly fixated on him. I doubt any of the people in this thread had heard of him before you started bringing him in here, and I doubt many watched the video. I, personally, don't care to respond to every person on the internet who criticizes Madoka, and I'm sure there's others who feel similarly.
Any argument that says Homura is a good reresentation of Nihlism honestly feels a bit off to me. Homura doesn't just limit Godoka, she becomes the new god of the world. Homura destroys the choices Sayaka and Madoka made, eliminating any of their own agency, because they have a value system different than her. Honestly Madoka shows more signs of moral relavatism. She allows the incubators to continue their work, just limiting the BS they can get away with, because she understands that their morality is valid. She lets every girl keep their wish because they're morality and desires are valid. Even in Homura's barrier she didn't literally drag Homura away from being a witch, she basically asked "is this what you really want?" And Homura chose to join her {another reason I believe Kyubey's actions tainted Homura in some fundemental way}.
Homura on the other hand is dictator because she thinks what's she's doing is best for Madoka, and no one should be able to argue otherwise. That sounds like someone far more convinced in their rightness than Madoka ever was. I'd like Urobotchi to acknowlege that a lot of the Neitzchen rhetoric of Homura is her rationalizing her own desire for control over Madoka. Homura feels more like a deconstruction of the Ubermensh than a straight example. Any one strong enough to overcome God is effectively a new god, both in power and ability to force their will on the rest of humanity.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I wouldn't say exactly that Homura is convinced of her rightness, what with her going "I'm a devil and autonomous bits of my psyche throw tomatoes at me." I'd say she doesn't think that she's just, just that she's justified. A Necessary Evil type thing.
True, she does say she's evil, but at the same time insisting her actions toward Madoka are nessecary, when they're clearly not, is still imposing her worldview on everyone else. See I think what Neizche meant with the "God is Dead" idea is that humanity as a whole would decide what's right for the world, not God from on high. In Rebellion's it's not humanity that decides they don't need Madoka, it's Homura. The rest of humanity gets no say on what happens to the world.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I've never studied Nietzche, so I have no intention of responding to those parts of your argument. The man's had enough uninformed misrepresentations of his views without me adding to them.
I haven't studied him extensively but from what I remember about my Criticism class Neichze was for embracing reality, enjoying life without arbitary restrictions, which I remind you in the Victorian era was far more likely about sex than anything else. He disliked deifying anything, including science or religion. Life has no inherent meaning is a key tenet of Nihlism, but like existentialism I believe the idea is for individuals to find their own meaning. Ironically Homura's actions not only forbid humanity from making these decisions, but it prevents herself from making it.
Through all her struggles, everything is still more about Madoka than it is about herself. Even after Homucifer she's in an awkward position of controlling Madoka without fulfilling what she actually clearly wants, a relationship with her.
These posts have been kind of rambly, sorry. I find Rebellion both wrong and fascinating on several levels.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I guess the reason I keep focusing on Goat Jesus is because his reviews were rather analytical, and I sometimes wonder if the show deserves to be looked at as deeply when he pointed out that it doesn't resolve the themes it brings up and is filled with plot holes and inconsistencies in the case of Rebellion.
Basically, I just don't want us to only think positively about the show, and for us to not waste our time analyzing something that doesn't deserve it.
If anything you're the only person who cares so much about this. You're the one who keeps bringing up that review and forcing conversation about this all.
Also I'm the one who bought you up to Goat Jesus on his Ask.fm page. Cause to be honest I actually find him very interesting and pretty nice.
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.I don't know. I guess I don't want us to just see something at face value and see nothing wrong with it.
Just for the record, I still love this show and film. Which makes me feel dumb for liking them when someone like Goat Jesus calls them flawed beyond repair and poorly written. It makes me feel like I'm part of the Lowest Common Denominator.

I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can. However, he followed it up by saying "even if I think there should generally be more thought that goes into them". Which makes me feel like mine are less intelligent.
I also, as far as I can remember, didn't try to slander him or anything like that (if I did, then I apologize).

I mean, I'm not sure analysis is ever really at face value.
I'm always against thinking less about things.
I think Goat Jesus is wrong and dumb.

I mean, I can't say I'm fond of the critical opinions of a lot of people that unironically do "top ten hottest anime babes" videos.

There's no video like that in his channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/GoatJesus/videos
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can."Top 10 Hottest Chicks in Anime (gimme all that loving)"
Well looking at that video. It was put up on April fools, he admits in the comments it's a troll video. So he was doing that video as a joke. He wasn't actually serious whatsoever.
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.I''ve got some issues with the guy. note But this is not a thread about GJ.

We're getting kinda off-topic with this whole GJ business.
Also I was wondering how could it be possible for Hitomi to make a contract in the series she seem to be to rational to make one.
Not sure.
Does she even have any magical potential? Kyuubey won't waste time appearing to someone without it now will he?
One Strip! One Strip!I don't think she has any magical potential since she couldn't see QB at all during the show
I'm just asking because I read a few fanfics a while ago that had her contract and their weren't bad.
Wonder what her MG form would look like?
So this show does deserve deep analysis is the consensus?
That doesn't really answer my question.
