Chrono Trigger

^^^ I thought the script was heads and shoulders above the original. Most retranslations of SNES titles tend to be, IMO.

I don't dislike everything about Ayla by extension. She had vaguely amusing animations and she was good for battles (not that it really mattered since the game was so damn easy the first time around). She was however ugly looking and annoying to listen to.

I would have been fine with a retranslation. But not all the retconning they did to make Chrono Cross make more sense.

Only if Crono dies and you place Lucca at the head of the party.

However, there's arguably stronger evidence for Lucca/Glenn.

Yes. She is a sprite. It is kind of hard to forget that she looks like this though. Especially when that character portrait in the menu is forever reminding you of this fact. And yes the game has no voices, but it annoys the fuck out of me. Stop being a pedant for the sake of some game you like.

Not really, no. Like Zeal said, the only real hint in the game is if you don't have Marle for Crono's resurrection. It's unashamed Audience Appeal Shipping Goggles based on the fact that I'm not particularly fond of Marle and that I generally favor the Unlucky Childhood Friend.

Before I played Chrono Trigger, I went to a forum for an online game, and one of the posters was a real bitch. Her handle was Marle, so now I hate Marle in Chrono Trigger as well.

We'll begin with the music, the awesome thing that sets the awesome tone for awesome Frog.

Ha. The only reason I'm acting "pedantic" is because I just found everything about this to be unreasonable. You don't like Ayla's looks and found her voice annoying, so you overturned Rebochan's statement of her being "awesome". I was all but ready to accept that your dislike was simply your opinion and that I had no right to comment before you made that response. Then it just seemed like you had a mad-on for no reason. I mean, the chick is a cavewoman. At least the accent and looks make sense in her case. Yet, you give the majority of characters in Cross a bye? It bugs me when I don't understand someone's logic, but they seem dead set in it.

Frankly, I don't care what you like or dislike, but I really loathe when something is dissed for a value it shares with something else which is given a pass for the sake of pure personal preference.

Frog's theme is one of my favorite pieces of video game music ever. And considering that I primarily listen to video game music, it's one of my favorite songs ever.

I like Frog's theme, but it isn't my favorite track from the game. That honor goes to this track. The floating city where it plays in is probably my favorite place in the game and it was one of the few times in the game where I went "Wow...".

Chrono and Ayla probably have my favorite themes, though Frog's is a close third.

I had more of a problem with Frog's speech than I did Ayla's. Mostly because it seemed kinda random. I'm quite sure he spoke normally as a human.

Sorry, the exact word was "glory".

I had no problem with Frog's way of talking.

Putting this here since edits have a tendency to be skipped...

Just because I like their accents does not necessarily mean I like the characters of Cross who are admittedly extremely bland and horrid. Their only redeeming qualities are their accents and character designs. Beyond that they could all die and I would be a happy woman. The Hulk Speak trope is a grating and annoying accent for me. Nothing more. Nothing less. Just because I dislike it does not mean that I have to dislike stupid accents in general and to suggest such a thing is stupidity of the highest order. No I don't care that she is a cave woman and that her accent therefore makes sense. It is still annoying and I still find her character design to be unappealing.
