By the way, what if we knock the vampires out by throwing our keyboards or laptops at them before proceeding to kill them with traditional items? I somehow doubt that the vampires would overlook such chances of their plan backfiring.
Problems like that aside, this WMG gives me a very good answer to people asking annoying questions like "Why are you still using pencils instead of pens?": "To avoid getting attacked by vampires while doodling digitally". If they are sane enough (which is the case with most of the people I talk with), it will deter them from asking me anything again, and it will be a good practice session for telling funny things with a straight face.

Pencils make good stakes, and can be fashioned into crosses, in addition to being usable outside a building. Keyboards don't have that protective properties, and by only being usable inside buildings, provide vampires a way to connect with people via writing.
