FREE GAME

Now that I have your attention...

So I started a page on Clonk yesterday, and thought this would be a good opportunity to get some tropers' first impressions on the games. Especially for whether or not it qualifies for Surprise Difficulty Also, this is a useful place to say a few things, such as that Clonk isn't very beginner friendly, and that if you download Clonk Rage, you should replace the music folder with this one, which has about seven more songs in it that were removed to save space.

And finally, as you're playing, please have a think about what genre Clonk belongs to. Platform Game just doesn't really cover it.

(Unrelated, is there preview button for the forums? Because I really feel like I've done something very wrong here, and am going to feel horrifically embarrassed as soon as I read what I post. Oh well.)

(Finally finally (I promise), the free game I mentioned is Clonk Endeavour. It's got quite a bit (but not all) of what Clonk Rage has, except online multiplayer. Trying to play CE online is like trying to brush your teeth with a grenade. It just doesn't really work. Then your head gets blown up.)

There's a link on the Clonk page. And no, there's no preview button for the fora.

I played some of the games a long time ago. It was quite fun, but I if I remember correctly, the clonks were just as stupid as lemmings.

where can I find it?]
I always forget something. Downloadable, not browser based, by the way.
Now, what exactly is this Clonk?
. It's a game series. You build stuff. And mine. And fight. And it's Better Than It Sounds, I promise.
How does it play, whats it about,
It varies between levels. A lot. The peaceful levels generally start you off with a house where you can buy and sell things, and end up something like this.

I need to add Artificial Stupidity to the page. General rule: Never allow the computer to control your Clonks for more than half a second. It never ends well.

So is this game like Dwarf Fortress, except side view instead of top down and with less "!!Fun!!'?

I'd check it out myself but I don't have the wifis for my computer for a few days.

Ehm. Sort of. But not really. Maybe. Direct control over your Clonks is the biggest difference. Really, Clonk is hard to describe. The harder settlement missions might feel a bit Dorfy, and a bit Minecrafty too perhaps, but... Bleh. And then there's the melees, which are rather different. But there are also races. And Dragon Rock is something of a dungeon crawl. Trying to say what Clonk is "like" is difficult.
