I almost want Federation Force HD just for the reactions.
So teen cop Samus or teen military Samus?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAwkward teen Samus that thinks Bird dad doesn't understand her.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Bold opinion: I would love to see what Nintendo did with a procedurally generated Metroid, for real.
I agree with the cat.

@DOOM 2016 comparison. That first point is completely wrong. The Doomslayer was never the UAC's underling (Or depending on your interpretation of his backstory never this iteration of the UAC). At any point. And while the other points aren't wrong, I feel like its a bit of a stretch to say they have the same plot.
Also, the UAC wasn't incompetent just batshit crazy. The entire plot of the game was very much intentionally kicked off, by the final villain lady who was like 2nd in command of the entire Mars facility.
I'd go more in depth but I'd have to play Other M first. And well I've been putting that off for a long long time. (Need to get back to my Super metroid run, then do Metroid Prime 2, and then 3, and then I'll maybe do Other M. maybe.) Or maybe do AM 2 R.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe DOOM comparison is a vast oversimplification...
Then again that might be the person desperately wanting Other M to have Been as simple as Doom 2016
God I would play the shit out of all those suggestions.
Also there was a second post that added things onto it. It was great.

Oh really when?I've wondered about a procedurally-generated Metroid but I just don't think it'd work. As great as it would be to have whole new maps to explore every game, what makes Metroid so great is how well-designed those maps are. No algorithm could put together a natural-feeling map with good secrets and items the way a manual design can.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! What about having procedural maps as a feature of an otherwise manually designed game?
I was suggesting procedural maps for a mobile game because those need to be infinitely replayable, and that would be one way to give Metroid unlimited content. Map the entire place, escape, find X collectibles, I'm sure something fitting could fit.
If there's going to be a Metroid mobile game, I'd rather pay for it like Super Mario Run than have it be F2P like Fire Emblem Heroes.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I don't expect it would be definitive, but I think it could still be fun, and I would expect a quality game and maybe even a little innovation from Nintendo.
Monkeys on typewriters, man. Not every run's gonna be gold, but it can still be worth it for those perfect seeds.

So before about a week ago I was pretty neutral on Metroid. Samus seemed cool, but I was just never introduced to it as a kid so it wasn't something I thought about.
Everything changed when I found AM2R. Man am I sold on this series. I'm thinking of seeing if a friend of mine who runs a retro video game store has Fusion and Zero Mission so I can get my GBA nostalgia on.
Oissu! If you have the means, the Prime subseries is actually very true to its roots and really does feel like a 3D Metroid. The Trilogy collection especially, though physical copies are hella expensive and the digital version requires a Wii U or... ceRtain Other MethodS.
I sure said that!I may go for the Primes eventually but I'm not really an FPS person so I'm not sure I'd like the Primes as much as the older 2D games.
Oissu!Well, what consoles do you own, if any?
Super Metroid is pretty much the king of the sidescroller games, and should be available on just about every iteration of the eShop if I'm not mistaken. Fusion and Zero Mission are good too.
The Metroid Prime games aren't really the same as other first-person shooters. There's a reason Nintendo marketed their genre as "first-person adventure". Your only real shot at playing it is the Wii U's virtual console at the moment, though I'm sure it'll come to Switch sooner or later.
Avoid Other M. Even putting aside the contentious story and characterization, the actual gameplay is just dull in every sense.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I have my old trusty GBA to play the GBA games on, as well as a Wii. I also have friends who own the Prime games so I could borrow those games from them to see if I'm interested in them.
I've heard enough about Other M to avoid it like the plague haha. As for Super Metroid... Might go the whole route that must not be named since I don't think anyone I know owns an SNES.

Oissu!Super Metroid should be on the Wii eShop.
As for Metroid Prime, you should try to get the Trilogy version if you can, the first two games benefit greatly from the third game's control scheme.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Oh hey, one of my favorite remixers put my favorite track from his Metroid Cinematica album up on his channel:
Literally spent afternoons listening to that on loop. Another gem from that album would be "The Last Metroid", and he also did good stuff with "Into the Green" for shinesparkers' Harmony of a Hunter album.
Current earworm: "Awe of the Unknown"There's also Hunters for the DS/Wii U VC, though Hunters is the most skippable of the series since it only introduces one character who has any real relevance to other games.
Putting aside the obvious Other M crack to make here, I'd say Metroid Prime Pinball is way more skippable than Hunters.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I actually find Metroid Prime Pinball to be quite enjoyable.
But yeah it doesn't actually add anything to the series since its a pinball version of Metroid Prime 1.

Assume that there will never be any Metroid news and the series will forever stay dead.
But seriously, any Metroid news will almost certainly blow up around the internet.
