I still don't understand how one is supposed to be able to concentrate while unconscious.

Secret Chozo Meditation Techniques can keep power suits active through comas but childhood trauma is beyond their power.

Exactly. If the suit required constant concentraion, then Samus wouldn't have had to have the suit surgically removed in Fusion, as it would've disengaged when she fell unconscious.

Having armor that's meant to protect you disappear if you lose your concentration or fall unconscious is just plane stupid. Imagine if she was fighting a Space Pirate and her nose itched for a second which caused her to lost her concentration long enough for the Space Pirate to shoot her.

Or, worse, if she fell unconscious while in a vacuum.

You'd think she'd lose her concentration when her fellow hunters in Corruption are getting killed. Or when she's hesitating over killing the Baby Metroid. Or when she sees her baby get blown up by Mother Brain.

Actually, having her start out "imprisoned" by a bunch of Federation troopers who don't really know her very well might work. She intentionally lets herself be "captured" in order to find out what they intend, all the while having the suit ready to come online when she wants to make her escape, probably by blowing a hole in a corner of her cell and Morph Balling right on out.

I could also see her turning herself over into custody to give all those hearings and whatever but then the pirates attack wherever she is and she busts herself out to deal with them.

You know, that story sounds familiar. Good guy is in custody and I think going to be executed but a big threat crops up that only the hero can handle so the government lets the hero go under strict supervision to deal with the threat and they fully intend to carry out their execution when the fight's over.

I can't for the life of me remember where that's from but I've seen that plot before.

I still think any "GF turns on Samus" storyline would have to account for the fact that only the Army seems to be shady and the Marines have a great number of reasons to side with Samus.

[up][up] Samus don't wait for authorization. She just lets herself out and gets things done.

Personally, I'd rather not do a "Federation turns on Samus" plot. I'd certainly expect mistrust between the two, of course.

They're supposed to be, but the big reveal of Fusion is that they've been breeding Metroids and deliberately misleading Samus. Samus blows their ship up to eliminate the X, and Samus's fate with them is left unknown, though Adam optimistically insists that someone will understand.

I'm imagining that the less savory factions might mislead the ones on the up-and-up by twisting the facts about BSL, and saying that Samus destroyed an important research lab, along with a planet, and stole a Federation ship to escape. All of which lines up with the evidence, but which is very misleading, by leaving out the whys.

In Corruption, I just did the fight with Ghor. Much easier than Rundas. Also, I noted before how much I liked the bit where Samus desperately tries to shoot down Dark Samus after that fight, but I'd forgotten about her slumping in sorrow, and the way she clenches her fist after it's all done. Some lovely use of body language in that one scene.

Bleh, does anyone know if word for "concentration" in Japanese actually means something else, but it just translates to that? Since really, that makes no sense tongue

Clearly the solution is to play annoying music so she can't concentrate.
But then she'll just ask a local horned rabbit for a large heavy hammer and smash an air intake pipe.

Interesting that the Prime series suit design has more in common with Metroid 2 than Super Metroid. I'm not sure if that makes Super's codpiece more or less justifiable.

It definitely strikes as what she'd wear when technically on the job but not actively in a mission yet. Kinda like swimmers before their race. The Zero Suit doesn't seem like casual wear.
