Mother Brain is actually a big dumbass, but everybody else just goes along with her insane ideas because they associate brains with genius and assume she just knows something they don't.

She's probably the one who demanded they line their hideouts with Morph Ball tubes, and make the door locks only open to weapons in Samus's arsenal.

I imagine those are actuallly stronger and stronger shields on their password-locked doors, and Samus is just blowing the shielding away with higher degrees of ordinance.

No excuses for the elemental-energy doors in Prime, though.

Speaking of locked doors, BSL's security system is kind of bonkers. I can see the wisdom in keeping the red-level security release behind a red door, but there's nothing else back there. How was anyone but Samus supposed to navigate the place?

I suppose the idea is that someone with red clearance is supposed to help you get access to red areas or bring you to the security room to upgrade your clearance.

But that isn't how the BSL doors work. You aren't getting clearance, you're deactivating that whole color. Hence why that allows the X into new areas.

I'm wondering why they stuck the red door station at the bottom of an aquatic habitat clearly not fit for human navigation. I mean, it's well hidden, but good luck getting to it unless you're Samus...

At least the other three security stations are within human-traversible areas, for the most part.

Maybe the Feds outsourced the door design to Science Team

Okay, my revised theory is that Samus is lazy and just shuts down security instead of granting herself clearance.

God, BSL has dumb security.

I wonder how the X can be so stupid as to not be able to invade Sector 3 until Samus shuts off green doors. I mean, Samus herself just took the most obvious entrance route.

Honestly, between the Space Pirates, Federation, and X Parasites, I can't help but wonder if Samus is the only person with a functioning brain.

Hey, the X Parasites gradually develop brains over the course of the story.

Not bad for what is basically flying bacteria.

Well, not so much the Tallon IV sect. They took the brunt of a Phazon impact.

Okay, I know everyone wants a sequel to Fusion, but if Metroid needs a filler game I have a good idea for a new game. Set it between Corruption and 2. Samus is hired by the Federation to look at a newly discovered civilization. Metroids are there for some reason, shit goes down, and the Metroids end up driving the civilization to extinction. No Space Pirates, no GF messing around with her, just Samus exploring a dying civilization and doing what she can to contain it. Or something like that.

The point of it is for this to be the breaking point where the GF decides the Metroids need to die. In the series we haven't actually seen them be much of a threat, mostly because Samus is good at blowing them up, and the Pirates and Phazon that use them end up looking more dangerous. We need them to cause a good old apocalyptic collapse.

Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.

One issue with that is how one would be able to explain Metroid 2 as actually getting rid of Metroids, if they just show up on this other planet. Of course, the Prime series did manage to tidy up the Tallon Metroids by wiping out the Phazon. And Tallon Metroids were wimps compared to SR-388 varieties anyway.

Samus might have GF support, a large force of marines who get ravaged and driven into retreat despite her best efforts. The turning point of the game (or the end of the prologue) could be Samus resolving to stay on the planet and help the civilization that's there even though the Feddies have turned tail.

[up]They could have initially been brought to the planet by some nefarious force that they then immediately gobbled up. The only appearance by the space pirates could be an isolated drop ship full of dessicated husks and ONE LAST METROID.

When you think about it, isn't Samus really only one capable of escaping from them? I mean, others seem to die really darn fast while Samus has so many energy tanks that it takes a while? And others aren't able to transform into bomb dropping ball to escape whem when they latch on head. And Metroids ARE really darn fast

I assume there are other people that could last a little while against a metroid. Like those bounty hunters from Prime 3.
