I'm guessing the Zebes Chozo were into the whole "combat practice as meditation" thing, ala real life Xiaolin monks.
I sure said that!@Tucker: Actually, now that I think of it... Didn't Mother Brain wipe out those moth things with drones? Clearly the Zebes Chozo had nothing agaisnt creating defense system that wipes out attackers :P The pirates didn't wipe them out before mother brain joined them so MB was in charge of the whole defense anyway. So clearly they weren't pacifists to the point of not practicing indirect self defense.
Wuh? Where's their wings?

Umm...◊ Under those robes I guess <_< That seems like only place where they could be.
That◊ or they literally lost their wings upon old age. Unless it depends on armor◊ whether they have "holes" for wings.*shrugs* Either way, Sakamoto DID say in interview that they used to fly so... Its not just manga weirdness, its just Sakamoto weirdness

Oh, the Luminoth are basically humanoid moths right?
Well, do they look like moths?
Anyway, I didn't speak about luminoth .-.
What's this about willpower? From what I've played, the suit's connected to the nervous system, an can be stowed by mental command. As far as I can tell, it runs off some insanely efficient matter/energy conversion system. Which is why it's got infinite ammo, why it can vanish when needed, and why the Morph Ball works (but don't let Science Team find out)
I have a message from another time...Just pointed out that if health bar running to end and suit exploding is supposed to be Samus losing willpower and dying as result, it doesn't make sense for bar to increase with energy tanks
The seires isn't exactly shy about its supernatural aspects, so I figure the Chozo use at least some degree of magic in making their sciencey stuff- They're technomancers, if you will.
I sure said that!Yeah, I'm pretty sure the energy represents shielding for the suit.
hence the Metroids, morph ball, and other things Science Team can't figure out.

I have a message from another time...Considering that 96% of Bryyo was rendered uninhabitable by a war between magic and science, and the Chozo, prior to the war, told the people that they need to find a balance between science and tradition, I have no problems with the Chozo being technomancers.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyThe Morph Ball does seems like a Magitek device to me. I can imagine Science Team trying to experiment with magic now.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyPhazon won't appear again right? I thought it was really cool, all the stuff it did.
Maybe them being able to turn into a ball explains all the Chozo statues?

Though there's also this◊, which strangely implies that the Morph Ball is something Chozo can naturally do. Are they also armadillos?
On the topic of Chozo wings, they actually do show up briefly in Zero Mission. When you activate the map, there's a background carving of a winged Chozo handing something to a non-winged one. Maybe they're some kind of angel. Samus could have made do with some wings instead of the Space Jump, though.
Maybe Space Jump is a late-game powerup because they had to figure out how to give the power of flight to a non-winged humanoid.

Well,◊ some art of chozos do resemble the statues quite a lot <_< So yes, I guess some of them where weird scaly bird armadillos, like chozo statues.
Chozos are really darn confusing .-. Hell, their Japanese name doesn't even feel like a name, but a statement of what they are...
I guess I'll just blame the fact that Metroid series is really darn inconsistent
@Cassidy: Yeaaaah, Phazon is wiped out of existence. One reason why I prefer prime games to be seperate canon is that it just feels odd that Samus saved galaxy from this weird uber powerful alien threat and that is somehow forgotten in super metroid and fusion and crap Heck, phazon seems more dangerous than metroids and x parasites in general... I guess x parasites have paranoid factor, but still.

It's more of a side-story than separate canon.
I have a message from another time...Yeah, but thats like saying that "Yeah, that Pokemon Gaiden Game where the world ended and god died was just a sidestory" It kinda feels like it should be more important than what it is
Phazon kind of loses import when it is all rendered inert.
And Super didn't really have much dialogue to bring up "yeah, that time Samus totes saved the universe from blue crap."
And Fusion has her so out of work from saving all of everything from blue goop that she's escorting marines to pick up giant frogs.
The series documentation is bad at acting like Samus has a life outside of the games anyway. Like Zero Mission was really her zero mission. Clearly she had done zeroer missions before that.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersYou know, I'd like to once again point out that there is absolutely nothing mystical or technologically advanced about the morphball. Now the Jump Ball, yeah, and the same goes for the Boost Ball but not the Morphball.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Wait, you mean Science Team is actually super incompetent? Say it ain't so!
Lovably incompetent?
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Yeah, it probably isn't. Presumable, they used to have empire of their own when they were still a warrior race and when their decline started they just become group of traveling scientists who worked to make sure peace remained on galaxy. I guess before pirates wiped them out, they didn't do much else than working as peace ambassadors and engineering dangerous lifeforms to wipe out local species
Anyway, I guess its because they wanted Samus to be able to defend herself?*shrugs* I doubt they adopting her was normal thing for them to do anyway.
