How did Kimiko get herself up on a one-legged stool (apparently, twice!) with just one arm?
But I don't really get what happened in the last panels. Delayed failure of her (artificial/biological) organs, for some reason? One would think that if the injuries were that serious she wouldn't have woken up at this time in the first place. (I was pretty surprised to hear she's been unconscious for a fortnight, though.)
Finding support in the most unlikely of places.
"I've come to the conclusion that this is a very stupid idea."Vonnie takes the entrance exam at the Sith Academy.
If the ring is a description of what Dark Science is like, then I think Vonnie may be enlisting with the Lemurians.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Shall we have a bit of fun, check what our answers would be?
1: With my colleagues. Even if they are not my actual colleagues there. Even if they are strangers in another country, or far away in the future. A body of knowledge can not be built on a single person. Your worth as a scientist is not in what you understand, but what you can pass on. 2: It's always been the original broom. The plan, the idea of the broom is what matters; the parts are secondary. (This is the Ship of Theseus, of course. Douglas Adams mentioned encountering this in Chinese people in relation to the Great Wall and Terry Pratchett told it in a "my grandfather's axe" parable. I happen to like this answer.) 3: I'd write both answers with an explanation. As demonstrated in this scenario, a rule like "you can give a written answers to a multiple choice quiz" is not sufficient to avoid problems, therefore it is justified to break the rules when that happens. I believe the teacher would think I used the best & most exhaustive solution and reward me with the best score, too. 4. Track down the wizard and examine the ring (the bigger question - does magic exist and how does that change the game? -is the priority). Then find the person most suited to wear the ring, presumably someone who is already accomplished in other areas which have nothing to do with wearing magic rings. (It means he is resourceful, may have an unexpected chance to find a way out of the paradox of the ring than a ring expert, and if he doesn't, the thought of not being able to solve the ring's mystery isn't going to bother him or hinder him in his work too much.)
My answers would be much the same, except for the ring. That I would avoid like the plague.
The data gained from the ring would be worthless because it can't be tested. It could just as easily be feeding me more grade-A bullshit than I could get in a year of political speeches, and I wouldn't have any way to verify it because I can't explain it to anyone else to get them to cross-check it.
Then again, my heart was won by traditional, non-Dark small-s science a long time ago, so...there's that.

What stands before us is not a machine. (Okay, I guess technically it probably is, but I wanted to reference an almost unlistenable death metal song nobody has ever heard of and which I haven't heard since 2011.)

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents. So this is a few strips back already, but that panel where Kimiko looked out and saw the stars in daytime...wow. That was cool.
Pfft, that panel of Kimiko admiring her new biceps.
I still find it both funny and kind of appropriate that when designing her new body she gave herself rippling muscles and bigger breasts. I mean, wouldn't you?
Ohshit. So who is with Kimiko, then?
So, Vonnie is officially converted now, or so it would appear. Although it's rather weird that apparently no one else noticed that a filed kidnapping report for an apparently rather famous socialite (who's the daughter of the security head, to boot) was in utter conflict with her being, you know, physically around and about. That's the bureaucracy of Nephilopolis at work, I suppose.
Yeah, in Nephilopolis "things are not the way the bureaucracy says they are" is fairly high up the list of Things You Very Carefully Don't Notice.

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Dunh dunh dunh! I'm hoping it's Melchior that's mistaken about her mother though, rather than her memories...if it turns out her memories of her mother were implanted, that feels disappointing in light of the past arcs and flashbacks.
Though the thing with the drawing is weird...
Though not totally new. See also Ghost In The Shell, for example.

You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Update. Melchior is a fine troll.
Couple of updates since the last time. So it looks like the story's going more along the lines of Kimiko's memories being tampered with. How much is the big question.
Also, since the "Asmodea" with them is apparently an impersonator, her reaction to the "Kusanagi is a fictional character" thing is interesting. And was throwing the book at just the right spot to reveal the secret panel purely a coincidence?
Well, that came out of nowhere.
