Yes, the Shadows of the Damned connection was not something I expected.
...Man, that game was weird.
Disgusted, but not surprised-mean sarcastic comment about nobody actually posting the trailer-
I just finished the VGA, how was I supposed to know?
Well this is an interesting analysis.
tl;dr The CEO guy in the trailer was an antagonist of the visual novel segments of TSA and is basically a stand-in for the execs Suda had to deal with during his brief attempts at going corporate. So we're probably gonna see a lot of Reality Subtext in this game too.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughMore context for , the CEO guy shares his last name with John Riccitiello, a former CEO for EA, specifically during the time Suda was making Shadows of the Damned.
Shadows of the Damned started off as an entirely different beast called Kurayami, which was supposed to be a psychological horror, but EA butted in and insisted that it would not make enough coin, so it needed a western style, which meant massive changes so Kurayami became Shadows.
In Travis Strikes Again, SOTD got a sequel called DAMNED: Dark Knight via Dr. Juvenile who wanted to make an entirely different game called Serious Moonlight, but she had to deal with jerky execs herself.
I understand that telling your former bosses that they sucked is NOT OKAY, but given Suda's former boss was EA, maybe we can let this one slide because it's EA...?
EDIT: While the Kurayami game won’t happen any time soon, Suda DID manage to write a manga based on it called Kurayami Dance.

2019 has made a lot more interconnected games and pages for the Suda 51 wiki. Prior to this all being cleared up, it could've seemed weird that a developer got his own wiki separately from his game series.
I saw this comment on youtube earlier today that first made me aware of some of the connections (I didn't play TSA myself, I don't have a switch yet, but I just found out it's recently been ported to Steam and the other consoles.
HERE BE SPOILERS FOR Travis Strikes Again. YOU ARE WARNED.
The kid at the beginning of the trailer becomes CEO of a company that revitalizes cites. He's kind of a jerk and beats up Dr Juvenile. Later Travis beats him up, and thus we've got a new cycle of vengeance going.
The aliens were referenced in the last strikes back dlc.
One response comment pointed out that Suda’s past games' characters had cameos, and ''The 25th Ward: The Silver Case was plot relevant.
And on that note, The Silver Case is one of the games that Suda released 20 years before TSA's release and NMH 3's announcement.

The sad, REAL American dichotomySeperately, what external references and trivia did everyone notice in the trailer? Here's some I either saw or was told about.
- In addition to the clear ET inspiration, "F U" are the next 2 letters after E.T., fiting the humor of Suda.
- F U's ship design is the same one seen in the trailer at E3, for some Five-Second Foreshadowing
- GODDAMN SUPER HERO is supposedly for the next gen "Death Drive", the console from TSA, another moment of Five-Second Foreshadowing (even less than that).
- Travis sliding his bike through the GODDAMN SUPER HERO logo is a reference to AKIRA
- That was Henry getting cut down at the end, as while his face is partially hidden, his clothing style and green, crossguard beam Katana are the same
And does anyone know who was the art director for it? It reminded me and others very strongly of Mamoru Hosoda's work on the first Digimon movie, and Summer Wars.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI can't help but think Fu might partially be a Digimon parody, considering the artstyle, the aspect of a human partner, his fuzzball look being like a Rookie, and his humanoid form that could well be a Ultimate or Mega level Digimon.
I really appreciate the work of all the people involved, and also of the self-described GHM / Suda superfan who put that out there for all of us to learn!
And no, my most important takeaway is not that the trailer was a motherfucking Jojo reference, it was that not only is Travis taking on a "Thanos" kind of threat like Suda wanted, but Suda's team on that trailer is basically an Avengers team up.
I still really, really want that GODDAMN SUPER HERO logo on a t-shirt.
The sad, REAL American dichotomySo Suda 51 often retweets a lot of his fan's fanworks.
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI came up with a hypothetical Smash Bros moveset for Travis here. Only thing that's left is an Up Taunt!
The sad, REAL American dichotomy... he clearly needs a Taunt that's him charging his beam katana. Each tap is one stroke. Repeated pressing causes him to charge more vigorously.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.
Your movelist only reminds how much I've forgotten about NMH's little things.
First in-game screenshot for 3.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Well, it's something.
The two most recently commented on forums in my watchlist were this one and Super Smash Bros.
"You gotta square your shoulders, Travis!"
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Is that the game with the Jamaken alien at the game awards?
I really hope this means NMH 1 & 2 comes out on the Switch at some point.
Is there any chance there's an image file of all of Travis' clothing options? I'd like to see (without booting up my copies, though I could), which of his shirts I'd actually buy in real life. Plus I could hopefully see which ones are actually for sale.
And if there's a "Goddamn Superhero" shirt, I'd definitely get that.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy
Would be hilarious if Suda recycles that 'there won't be a sequel' scene and in a post-release interview says "for rral this time."
