I cannot think of any reason that may have caused me to create a sockpuppet, but then I remembered a day when the forum was down. And I think that there is an account that I created before this one that I would like to dump, I just can't remember the pass word. Could I be checked as well please?

Also I use multiple computers but keep the same handle, that isn't an issue, correct?

I have no idea how many I have. I just deleted one that was a typo, but I don't know if I need to delete more, and how many if so.

I do understand the reasoning behind not telling people how many they have, but I really think that it's a bad idea. I don't know how many I have, and nor could I likely recall all the names if I were given a number. Like many people, a lot of mine were one-off jokes.

If you really don't want to give people numbers or lists, can you at least not count socks that were only used before the ban went into effect?

I guess it is.

Well, I originally didn't think I would have any, but since others are getting overlap I'm now interested to know if I'm showing some as well.

Same. I live in a block of flats and there's a fair bit of overlap. I'm pretty sure I was just myself, but now I'm worried.

No, I mean if this restriction has any risk of getting freaking Blackcat banned, there's a problem with it.

Oh.

Well yeah.

Look, I would just like some reassurance that I'm not going to try to log on tomorrow and find that myself, Landy, and wanna have all been banned.

I'm not worried about being banned, unless I do something boneheaded. I just want to dump any accounts I am not using. It's been bothering me for a while, and I thought I could use this opportunity to get rid of it.

I don't think that the mods are going to ban people for having too many sockpuppets today or even next week. I am under the impression that they are letting people know that this marginally acceptable behavior has become marginally less acceptable and they are establishing parameters. Of course, I have been wrong on many occasions and intend on being wrong on many more, this happens to be my interpretation of what is going on.

I don't think blackcat is at risk of being banned. I am a little concerned about myself, Noimporta, Occono, Ivy (IIRC) and several others who I know used the same sockpuppet.

If parts of the moderation (Bobby) start falling apart, there are some serious problems with this system, I'd say.

Well, you get the point. Upstanding users.

I don't think that the mods are going to ban people for having too many sockpuppets today or even next week.

Weren't two people already banned for this?

No, just Tnoph, I think. And that was for having over 40.

Was any one? I am under the impression that what's her name was banned for something else and then the sockpuppet accounts were discovered.

From what I gather, Tnoph was banned less for the obscene amount of sockpuppets and more her refusal to admit they were such (and, I assume, a refusal to cut down on them as well).

Well, that's why I'm asking. And the other one being Myrmidon.

Why would any one want or need that many accounts?

I thought Myrmidion's was for snowcloning.

Tnoph was banned automatically when she hit the limit. The other stuff is why she's still banned.

I thought Myr was banned for something about snowclones.

Why would any one want or need that many accounts?

I don't know, but it seems like a silly criterion for banning given all the users that have sockpuppets or IP issues.

So, are we still supposed to post here to find the amount of sockpuppets we have?

I bet the number of people with IP issues and mega multiple sockpuppet accounts is statistically pretty minor. Less than 5% of users.

"IP Issues"=Having IP overlap with another user, mostly.

Which includes people like me and the three other users I overlap with.

meeble and shimaspawn: you're ok, according to the puppet finder the mods can use. You're both the only handle on the IPs you post from.

The risk of running into IP overlap is much higher if you use a proxy to post, because those are not IPs local to you. IP overlap is also a factor if you post from school, especially if there are other tropers attending your school.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
