Interesting, I was just thinking about making a thread on them. Anyway, I looove everything they've done, from the more pop/hard rock in 80s and early nineties, to the softer, classy stuff from the 70s (the latter of which is my favorite). What I especially like is the diversity in their music - you can find songs by them that almost sound like they were done by a totally different group, in a totally different era. We have the well-loved gems "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Somebody to Love", "Killer Queen", etc., and the delightful obscurities "Seaside Rendezvous", "The Millionaire Waltz", and others. Unlike most Queen fans however I face an odd dilemma where both my parents hate the band (my mom especially) so I feel the need to hide my fandom, despite how much I'd love to make it public!
^ Why would that be an issue? My mum's music taste is appalling, and she thinks the same of mine - we don't bother trying to hide it :p
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars. She's a homophobe. :P Oh, and she grew up in the 70s and 80s and "had to endure them on the radio everyday", same way she hates Randy Newman.
Agreed, Queen rocks. Somewhere there is a video of me drunkenly (and I do mean seriously bottle-of-tequila shitfaced) belting out "Fat Bottom Girls" during a game of Rock Band. I cannot sing, and the best Jose could do was make me think I could.
The result wasn't pretty, but it apparently was quite hilarious.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~Yes, Queen is a great band. It's too bad Freddie died, they could have done so much more.
That reminds me, I haven't listened to them lately. I should go fix that.
Please don't feed the trolls!drunkscriblerian, I'd certainly love to see that sometime, haha.
If I can find who has it, I'll gladly stick it up somewhere where it can be viewed.
I have no shame, and no plans to run for public office. There's already a video of me slurping loganberry wine off of some girl's boobies floating around somewhere, so I don't really have a chance anyhow.

IS THIS JUST FANTASY
Their work for Highlander and Flash Gordon fits like a glove for both of those movies - Flash Gordon with the campy fun, and Highlander with the slightly more serious campy fun.
Queen gives me a stronger feeling of "meh" than any other music act in existence.

You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!I feel that way about Led Zeppelin.
last.fmWent and took a listen to their Debut. Pretty sweet deal.
My friends and I have disscussed watching those movies soley because Queen did the music. I like 39 because of the relativity aspect. The other wiki explains the "plot" best. edit:grammar

Mad Scientist! MWAHHAAHAHMan, I love me some Queen. Freddie Mercury is, without a doubt, the best rock singer of all time. Try to deny it.
I've heard Bohemian Rhapsody a few too many times to care about it anymore. But there are some other Queen songs I like - Brighton Rock is probably my favorite. Also Stone Cold Crazy and The Prophet's Song.
no one will notice that I changed thisI Love queen. My favorite song is between Death on Two Legs, The Show Must Go On and Keep Yourself Alive.
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.I was watching Queen Rock Montreal yesterday evening. Very interesting to see them at what was probably the height of their fame in America, just after "Another One Bites the Dust" but before they recorded Hot Space.
Queen never recorded (the italics aren't working) Hot Space.

"I want to create an omelet that expresses the meaninglessness of existence, and instead they taste like cheese."Does it really matter that they did a funk album? I'll agree that it wasn't really them, but it wasn't even bad funk.
It sorta seems like a sell out album, sorta a "hey, this song was a hit, lets try to ride on that". I'm just glad they righted themselves. It was good funk though.
Has anyone heard Queen II? Its one of they're best albums I think but no one really talks about it. Same with the first one and Sheer Heart Attack.
0I've been listening to Queen a lot recently, too. Save Me is probably my favorite right now, followed by Bohemian Rhapsody.
Yeah, I think that's fairly accurate. Roger Taylor said that in the commentary for the "Staying Power" video. I think it's important to consider just how big of a hit "Another One Bites the Dust" was in America. I know it sometimes seems to me like it's just track two on the Greatest Hits album, but it was a pretty big song for them.
I wonder what would have happened if "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" or something like "Get Down Make Love" had been the mega hit from The Game. Would Hot Space have been an album of rockabilly songs or psychedelic stuff?
I am currently in the process of re-discovering the fact that I bloody love Queen, particularly the songs that lean towards Heavy Metal and Progressive Rock.
I have decided that The Show Must Go On is simultaneously one of the most sad and one of the most awesome songs ever to have been recorded.
