Sakurai said that they run CPU battles all night long as part of bug-testing.

My partner and I play with items and Final Smashes on, and all stages are fair game except the ones that really suck (like 75m, Great Cave Offensive or Pac-Land). If a stage has an obtrusive gimmick, like Wily Castle, we use the Battlefield variant.

We rarely play on Final Destination/Omega variants because it's boring.

Unrelated: I don't know if you guys saw, but someone on Twitter made a tier list of which Smash characters would be able to wield the Master Sword (kind of like the old Thor's hammer meme in the MCU fandom), and everyone's making fun of them for saying King Dedede couldn't do it because he's "evil."

I get the sentiment (Dedede is sometimes an antagonist, but not exactly a villain), but I still don't think he could wield the Master Sword because he lacks gumption.

(Incidentally, the same person said Luigi and Diddy couldn't wield the sword. To me, that's way more egregious.)

Glad to know I'm not the only one who bans 75m even with all the casual embrace. My brother and my teen friend hate it as well. -_-

Wanna know what's real weird? I saw a Youtube video about a girl analizying which Ultimate characters had their First Kiss.

75m is just TOO chaotic to the point of being unfun and not enjoyable. Having an infamously difficult spirit battle take place there isn't helping.

It's also an odd pick as 25m is the FAR more iconic and famous stage. It's like repping Sonic 1 with Spring Yard Zone when Green Hills is right THERE.

My favorite stage of them all is Big Blue. It has the perfect middle ground: somewhat chaotic but not too difficult to avoid being screwed by its gimmicks.

My favorite way to play usually involves Stage Morph being active (not featuring any particulary annoying stages like auto scrollers), Final Smash Meters and occasional Assist Trophy, Poke Ball and Food spawns.

Thats pretty much the right level of chaos for me.

Oh, was that Goombanna? I saw it too. She's a good creator but I didn't like that video. Her reasoning was kinda weird in places (like deciding that Zelda has been kissed because other Zeldas have descendants and stuff like that). I'd have to rewatch it to tell you exactly what bugged me about it.

I don't think 25m would've made a good stage either. 50m was the way to go. Broader platforms but not too broad, sensible hazard placement (the burning oil drum in the middle), and easily understood gimmicks (conveyor belts, retractable ladders).

Speaking of weird lists, I remember this video which ranks all of the Final Smashes based on how realistically deadly each one would be ("realistically" in the sense that if they could happen in real life).

75m isn't that chaotic, it's just made out of too many small platforms.

Which isn't fun to play on.

3 temporary hazard is actually pretty tame.

Many of the least popular stages are ones that are direct adaptations of 8-bit games. This can be considered symbolic of how most gamers these days don't have respect for such games.

Also not helped by the sheer amount of ladders that make moving even harder than it should be

Where were you when Sora was revealed as Smash's last new fighter?

Are you sure it's not that painstakingly recreated arcade layouts from 1981 aren't suited to be stages in a platform fighter?

I was in my room watching RogerBase's live reaction to the Sakurai presentation. Many of his reactions are upbeat and wholesome, so he was the perfect choice for me to follow the presentation from.

Arcade Mario Bros is amazing and I will not accept this slander.

I actually do think it's a fun stage, just one that's horribly ill-suited for playing the game normally. You can have some real fun with it if tou aren't taking the match seriously.

Didn't get to see the Sora reveal live due to timezone. When I did go online to see the video, guess who was in the thumbnail, ruining the minute or so lead in to the reveal?

I can't remember where I was that day. Probably at work or in my room watching the direct.

I managed to wake up early enough to catch the direct live.

I then had to keep myself from screaming when the fireball Mario threw took the shape of the Keyblade so I didn’t wake up my roommates. 😅

For Sora, I SHOULD have been at work, but this was important!

I go back to the reaction videos time to time. Favorite is Banjo and Kazooie, then Sora. I love the Everyone is here reveal how the crowd loses their mind over Ice Climbers.

100m would've been a good stage and infinitely better than 75m. And more iconic, too.

Mario Bros. is fine...

But 50m and 100m would be perfectly acceptable as DK stages.

For a Smash 6, I would kill if Captain Falcon's render had him with a cocky grin on his face.

Okay, you guys should really watch that "Final Smashes ranked realistically" video. It gets really silly, like he calculates Pac-Man's Final Smash based on Pac-Man being a giant pizza.

That would be out of character for him. Captain Falcon is typically stoic.
