The quote had to do with why Snake had no guns at all in Brawl. I don't remember exactly where it's from, I just remember he had said something along the lines.
I kind of agree, since the series is pretty cartoony and the violence isn't terribly realistic at all. Even swords don't really "cut". Everything's practically bludgeoning at this point. Or elemental.
Quest 64 threadBesides the fact that guns in fighting games are kind of broken. -sidelong glance at Mortal Kombat-
No, it wasn't the fact it was a gun. It's that the projectile was poorly designed as was the character.
Guns are not really broken in fighting games any more than projectiles are. Marvel VS Capcom 2 had Jill Valentine. Her gun uses were far from broken.
Poorly designed guns are broken in fighting games, yes. Not guns in general.
Quest 64 threadI wouldn't mind if Snake has a gun of some sort, so long as the bullets are a blunt hit on the foe. Not familiar enough with Metal Gear Solid to know how his tranq gun would work though.

Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong
Cartoon Mother Brain.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Hailing from the series Donkey Kong Country this girl money (chimp?) at long last joins the fight.*
Stats
- attack 3/10
- speed 8/10
- jump 10/10
- size small
- weight feather
Moves
- (B): Cherry revolver, fire up to six shots in quick succession.
- (Smah B): Hair twister, a powerful multi-hit move that propels her along the ground.
- (Up B): Hair Tornado, spins around like a tornado propelling her diagonally and does a good amount of damage, for her.
- (Dwon B): barrel* produces a different barrel out of hammer space and throws it at opponents. Sometimes will produce a metal or TNT barrel instead.
- FINAL SMASH: Base Blast produces an electric bass guitar out of nowhere sending powerful sound waves at the opponent. Unlike donkey Kong or that bad that looks more like a bulldog its direction wise not going out into the screen.
Kiddy Kong
The todler Titan returns from a long absence. As the special ability to bounce across the water and crawl. has good jumping ability when compared to the other heavyweights. Also his massive size is by default crouch down well because his normal animation is crawling.
Stats
- attack 8/10
- speed 3/10
- jump 4/10
- size medium-large
- weight heavy
Special moves
- (B): Durian slingshot, a slow to charge powerful projectile
- (smash B): power rolling, roles on the ground slightly faster than his running speed doing heavy damage to anything that he hits during the role. Can still jump during a role but only one time and half as high.
- (Up B): power crash, Kiddy thrusts upward well rolled into a ball at the apex of the jump shifts into an attack reminiscent of a meteor strike.*
- (Down B): toddler tremor, starts out like a lower version of power crash but courageous shockwave on the ground.
- FINAL SMASH: temper tantrum, similar to his death animation in donkey Kong country three only it causes a huge earthquake.

I sure said that!@Hero Shepherd: Mother Brain from the Captain N series. In-series, and arguably her design, is creepy/scary. Likewise, among my current list, it's what I'd say is the "scariest" avatar in my gallery I could've used.
...Which would've been more efficient if the Halloween Avatar thing didn't happen. XD
Quest 64 threadReally? She just looks like broccoli to me.
That she's voiced by Audrey II doesn't help.
I sure said that!Eh, some come close, but a seeable brain is ridiculous enough.
Anyway, I love her tank design in the show, and think that if she was playable, that'd be the best version. Of course, that won't happen unless somehow Captain N could get in.
I kind of like her bipedal design, but not as much. If only because a "brain in a tank" sounds far more interesting than just another typical one-eye bipedal strong monster. Albeit, her Prime design still kicks tons of ass, but I'm not sure she'd make a great character who kicks ass. That version anyway.
I'd still prefer Ridley in Smash first. More appearances, is a personal character to Samus, more characterization, and is another dragon.
Quest 64 threadI could argue that Ridley is the main antagonist of the Metroid series as a whole, despite him never being the main antagonist of any one game. He's a special case.
I sure said that!I think the M9 could easily be an item rather than part of any character's moveset- that way the power afforded by its range and ability to put opponents to sleep is offset by the fact it is a single-use item.
...Maybe...
Like I said, anyone who's played a MGS game will tell you the tranq gun is the cornerstone item of any good low/no-kill run. It's kinda like the signature item of each game, so it does kinda seem off that Snake doesn't have his.
I sure said that!Well, yeah, Ridley's the main antagonist as a whole. Mother Brain is the second most important one, and the first "Final Boss" we see.
I can't think of another series that does this overall like Metroid. It might just be an unique scenario.
Quest 64 threadMy fighters were bad nobody said anything.
-sigh- Fine.
"Your fighters are bad and you should feel bad".
I'd just like to add I'm not an enormous supporter of Ridley for SSB 4. Something about him just doesn't seem right for reasons I can't quite explain. It does seem more and more likely though.
My Deviant ART page is through here. It has lots of Psychonauts stuff. That is all.Maybe I just don't know enough about Metroid, but Ridley just doesn't seem anthropomorphic enough to be a Smash character. And they couldn't do much in the way of comic relief anywhere involving him unless they used the Ridley voice.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. And Ivysaur is?
And I'm against Ridley in Smash Bros! But there are better reasons than that.
Like the fact that due to his proportions he would need a drastic redesign in order to work in the same field as the other characters, even if (or maybe even especially if) they did ignore the whole "scaled in relation to other characters of the same series" bit and made him smaller in relation to Samus.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I still wanna see Ridley as playable.
Not sure what his Final Smash would be though.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersBatman's?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Too late; Joe Chill took care of them back in the early 40s.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.
I'd still rather see the M9 Mod over the grenades. The knock-out dart guns in the games are absolute staples.
I sure said that!
