yeah I just skim your posts when they're that long.

Basically the entire competitive Smash community refers to it as teching, so I don't see much point in going against the grain for the hell of it.

I highly doubt that they purposely made Ganondorf that bad.

Really? Out of all the design choices involved in making Ganondorf what he is, you think they just threw some random values on his autocancel windows and called it a day? He could autocancel out of shorthop in Brawl. Its removal was a deliberate decision.

It doesn't matter if it's called Ukemi or Teching. I call it Ukemi so when I say tech, people don't confuse it for Technique. It's the same thing regardless.

And no, I don't believe they purposely made him bad. They just didn't work hard enough on balancing auto-cancelling, that's all.

While I disagree with the logic behind it, they pretty explicitly design some characters to be better at FF As (allegedly) while others are better suited for itemless legal stage 1v1. So yes, I do think they "purposefully made him bad" rather than accidentally use a random number generator for the autocancel values.

You're giving the devs way too little credit.

I do think we were getting into a bit of confusing mainstream and popularity. Something can be popular yet nor be mainstream (ie: A lot of anime/manga series).

Also, I refer to "Ukemi" as "tech" and I just Advance Techniques.

Last thing I'll say on the traditional fighters being niche thing. Via dictionary.com:

Traditional fighters in a nutshell. The genre doesn't have widespread appeal since gamers who aren't into more serious competitive play can get a similarly satisfying experience from hack and slashes, beat em ups and casual fighters like the Naruto games, the DBZ games, anything Cyber Connect 2 makes, etc.

But you're still ignoring the point of how vastly well known they are. Which is a different point, and we're clearly arguing different ones in the first place. Overall, we're both right. Traditional Fighters are extremely well known. But they only appeal to a niche market.
