I don't know what's the relevance of that video, but I really don't care. -Replays-
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."LOL! The explosion exploded my ears, but LOL.
Lucario was my main in Brawl, but by this point he's more of one of my secondary mains in 4, where my mains are the Villager, Yoshi, Ness, Roy, and Pac Man. (My other secondaries are Ryu (though he kinda straddles the line between secondary and main), Bowser, Bowser Jr and the Koopalings, Robin, Pac Man, and Mewtwo.)
But I dunno, Lucario kinda straddles the line like Ryu.

"Pardon me, that extremely loud and extremely deep voice you may have just heard. It was me. Oh, it is such a long story..."I really wanted to main Lucas and I invested a lot of time in him but he just doesn't work out with me. I struggle a lot more than I should when I use him and he just doesn't feel as good to play with as Greninja does.
Having to drop my Brawl main is sad.
Luckily, I've stuck with my main all the way since the original Smash Bros.
My secondary, on the other hand, has changed rapidly.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeWho is your main? Link?
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Nope. Pikachu!
(I actually just dropped Link in favor of Toon Link, who better fits my playstyle, which is kinda sad because I've loved playing as Link since the original as well).

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeIronically, I did the opposite. Toon Link was my main in Brawl, but I switched for Link when Smash 4 came around.
off the shitsRegular Link is the only Link I really play as. Sometimes I'll use Toon, but not Young.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Samus was my main in 64 and Melee, but I've kind of dropped her in favor of Ludwig and Lucario. I'm also trying to learn Ike and ZSS, but I'm having trouble figuring out the latter.
Fox and Captain Falcon are my 64 mains. Marth and Link were my Melee mains alongside Fox, Falco, Falcon, and Roy. Meta Knight, Snake, and Sonic were my Brawl mains, and Roy and Ryu are my Sm4sh mains.
Though I usually play several characters so this means nothing to me.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Sorta the same for me. Pikachu is definitely and distinctly my main, but I play a LOT of different characters as well, so I don't really have a solid secondary. (Maybe Roy).
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI don't know why, but I like using "alternate" versions of my mains. Currently I use Mario and Dr. Mario, Link and Toon Link, and Marth and Roy. And if you really want to stretch the definition of "alternate," I also use Wario "in place of" the (Dr.) Mario camp.
I don't use Luigi very much, though.

Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.I think its the novelty of characters with alts/clones being exactly or almost exactly the same as the original but with minor adjustments to visuals or attacks. I use Dark Pit more than Pit because even though they their only main difference is their final smash (and original recipe Pit has the better one), I prefer Dark Pits alt colors, taunts, and victory quotes/poses.
It also helps that Doc doesn't have fludd which they for some reason decided to keep with Mario despite NOBODY liking it.
My main has remained pretty consistent ever since Bowser happened. My secondary however has changed every game so far. Dr. Mario in Melee, Wario in Brawl, and Ganondorf in 4. I still play Dr. Mario a bunch now but Wario feels so awkard. None of his attacks feel solid at all anymore. I'm also not taking any character I played as in 64 into consideration since I was probably like, 4 years old when I played it and Yoshi was the coolest thing ever back then.
Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardNow I don't have a problem with how Smash did DLC. It's generally competitive with other fighting game DLC prices, and it's decent quality aside from the lack of custom moves. But PR is meant to provide a certain image, and Nintendo is committed to the image of good DLC (which they have done for the most part), so they wanted to avoid any implications that they were holding something back from the main game. It's why I was not surprised when any of the DLC was announced.
And the hidden eShop link could be there simply so that if they decided to add more content that they felt would need, they'd have the groundwork down.
As in, they might have decided to add it simply because there might have been a chance that they might think up some content to add in the future.
really I could go on all day with this one
And most of the characters in Smash Bros. are not only veterans which means that a lot of the groundwork for 34 of the characters were already done. If Sakurai's team worked on multiple newcomers for each year (and taking into account that Sakurai is getting help from Namco Bandai, an experienced fighting game company, which could help shorten time, as well as probably cutting stuff like Aventure Mode), he could shorten the time in regards to adding new characters, as well as drastically shorten the time in regards to adding all the characters he planned out.
With this kind of help, it would also be a cinch adding clones since the time for making semiclones take less time (as a base has already been established), and especially the time to make clones is drastically shorter than adding a new character.
So once everything that was planned was added and the game was released, Sakurai could think about everything he didn't plan or which was previously low-priority.
Now, Mewtwo was certainly the first planned DLC character, and as a veteran, there was a base to start with him and probably more people in the staff to focus on developing him. Lucas and Roy were likely planned and developed latter on, with the added bonus of both characters sharing similiarities with another character in the game (so both are semi-clones), so making them would be quicker than usual.
Mewtwo and Roy also share the distinction of having been planned for Brawl, but ultimately being cut. In addition, Roy was likely planned to receive the semi-clone treatment that Luigi, Falco, Ganondorf, and Toon Link got in the same game, so Sakurai likely knew what he wanted to do with them for the next game. Lucas might have been planned for the game at the start, but may have gotten the chopping block because his series is dead (and thus makes Lucas a low-priority cut-if-they-don't-pan-out character, like the Ice Climbers). Either way, it means that Sakurai when Sakurai got the idea to add these characters as DLC, he could utilize previous plans and their status as veterans to shorten the development time.
Ryu is the only new character that had to be worked from the ground up, but already being a fighting game character (and, unlike Pac-Man, Sakurai actually taking elements from his fighting game appearances) would make this a question of conversion, rather than development, while simultaneously satisfying Sakurai's desire to have Ryu be true to his game appearances.
Speaking of mains, my main has been pretty consistent through all games as I've played Luigi for all of them. Only with Smash 4 did I actually add a second main (Robin), though I have three secondaries as well in Dr. Mario, Ganondorf, and Mii Gunner (as well as a couple characters I dabble in).

You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!@Ryu is just Mario: Mario doesn't have a wicked uppercut Final Smash.
@ past mains: Kirby Kirby Kirby is the name you should know...
I'm not sure it really counts as a main when I only played 64 and Melee at my cousin's house and didn't have time to really practice. I rented Brawl for SSE, but that was all I got to play before 3DS.
Now Kirby is sorta my secondary, but I mostly use him to goof around.
Mario's uppercut is a secret. You need to beat master core on 9.0 difficulty 52 times and then put in the konami code. Then you have to collect 100 coins in the next smash battle by using mario's up b, and then when you use your final smash mario uses the secret uppercut instead.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeIt wasn't liked because it was seen as more useless than the tornado. In Smash 4, it was reworked to be much more useful and got two customs so there's no real reason to hate it anymore.
Be careful about what you invoke.
Ganondorf had yet to be established as a swordsman at that point. He was just a sorcerer and the most physical thing he did was indeed to use his fist.
That said, his body physique made him a perfect clone character for Captain Falcon. The moveset also fits him on grounds of his arrogant personality and his strength being one of his main defining points.
I don't think they're going to retool his moveset in any way: Ike already fills the strong, slow swordsman niché, whereas many other characters fill the spellcaster niché. We also have characters that already fill the hybrid spellcaster-warrior niché as well.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!The tornado is a more flexible move, even if the FLUDD got variants, the tornado is a more consistent move (that also got two variants).
Also, the cape got a buff that allows it to do the same job as FLUDD with more consistency. So, nope, waste of a moveslot with some niche uses.
And, Captain Falcon got an original moveset, not one inspired by F-Zero. Ganondorf getting it is not an insult to the character. A character that works quite well mechanically-wise.

I'd be happy if it came across in customs. Like, if his neutral B customs were Warlock Punch, Warlock Blade, and Warlock Salvo (punch a ball of dark magic to shatter it into projectiles, Hyrule Warriors-style), I'd be good with that.
Speaking of Hyrule Warriors, I hope a future game uses Tetra using her HW moveset. And/or Toon Zelda using the Wind Waker. I'd give the HW Wind Waker moves to Toon Link, but he's probably set in stone, as much as I'd love to see him summon a tornado or run people over with a train for a final smash.

I have a message from another time...And it seems to be the route being taken.
FLUDD means Mario has has two moves to control characters trying to recover (one letting him do so at a fine distance instead of waiting for the opponent to get closer to the edge) which is good for Mario because Mario has a lack of power in his moves. Additionally, Mario Tornado is not Luigi Cyclone which is straight out better than it in this game (and by better than Mario Tornado, I mean better than Dr. Tornado which is reworked to be like Mario Tornado in this game).
That could certainly work. Though Warlock Blast is already kind of Ganondorf using magic.
I could certainly see Ganondorf getting his HW appearance, but retain his Smash moveset.
