@Irene: Nope, the Bonuses were available in the single-player modes as well... at least, in Classic, Adventure, and All-Star. Some of the bonuses are even specific to those modes!
One of them requires you to beat one of the modes without taking any damage all the way through!

@Cly: That's not what I'm talking about. Bonus Mode is something specific, not Bonuses in general.
You win in Bonus Mode by having the most points overall. In the Single Player modes, they just add to your score instead(which is totally different, and it uses Bonuses, but it's not a specific mode, as the time limit is only a restriction, not part of the overall win condition). What I meant is that an Event itself(in Event Mode) might've been based upon Bonus Mode where the only way to win via the time limit is to have the most points. I can't remember if there was one.
Bonus Mode itself is a variant of Time Mode, except instead of getting the most KO's, you want the best score. It's a specific option in Multiplayer only in Melee. It was sadly removed from Brawl(including almost every Bonus in general). 64 had all the Bonuses, but not the Mode itself.
