So... yeah. One of my main complaints about the first one was that it was painfully easy, the only difficult opponents only being so because they were inconveniently unflinchable, which eventually stopped being difficult the more you got used to it (but never became less tedious and annoying).

Running around destroying everything eventually lost it's appeal, as it wasn't like the people or regular infected really meant anything. And unlike GTA there wasn't really a way you could increase the challenge by limiting yourself to certain weapons and such - by the end of the game every single style was absurdly powerful, and even at the beginning of the game regular humans didn't stand a chance.

I'm guessing this game as the same problem?

@Firebert

Man, I kind of hated how around tanks you couldn't just sit back and watch when disguised, cause the game would cheat with it's targetting. Since you were in cover the tanks wouldn't shoot at you... so they would constantly shoot as stuff that was directly next to you instead. Wanna help them take out a crowd of infected without getting targeted yourself? Too bad! They're shooting at you anyway.

In fact, that's just a symptom of a main problem I had with the game in the first place: everything always targetted you, even in situations where it defied common sense.

Nope!

It's even easier. tongue

I want to call the Bulletproof mutation a Game-Breaker. From all the soldiers who just use small guns, it gets very simple...

Fortunately though the tanks stop following you. Now in the Red Zone there are random trucks of marines who drive by shooting Infected and all babbling out orders to each other. [lol]

My hobby: gliding above un-suspecting soldiers and pouncing them before jumping away before anyone can react, then gruesomely eat them. This way I can pretend I'm batman without the boring parts of being batman.

Oh? what's that soldier? You're in the middle of your base with a DNA strand above your head? Well you're shit out of luck. Swoop! motherfucker!

This jumpy perk was so much worth it for that alone.

I do enjoy the pounce as well, though so far I just eat the guy right there rather than jump away with him. More than a few times I've been going for someone or something with a yellow symbol only for them to get killed before I can reach them, so I don't waste time getting what I want.

[up]Sort of. The city is big, and the three different zones add some variety, but there really isn't much to explore and it's pretty easy to get around, so this is no Red Dead Redemption.

The event challenges are fun, I like those. And I will give the game this, Heller does have his own unique powers that make him distinct from Mercer, so he's not just a clone. Oh, and the blade power doesn't completely overshadow the claws this time; the claws actually stay useful since some enemies can be a little too fast for the blade. Tendril proved to be more fun to use, especially when upgraded because you can use it to trap brawlers. So the game does what a sequel should do, mostly.

Prototype is open world in the same way the Spiderman games tend to be open world. There's a lot of ground that you can cover, but there's not a lot in it besides random enemies you can beat up if you're bored. And semi-side missions that mostly involve killing certain things in a time limit or running around finding new places.

In fact, now that I think about it Prototype feels a lot like Ultimate Spiderman (The Game) with a more OP character and more gratuitous violence. Taking place in the same city will do that. And humorously Spiderman Web Of Shadows actually ends up being a lot like Prototype, as they use an army of symbiote-infected that are essentially Prototype's infected.

So the powers are fun? Also, can you kill lots of random pedestrians or enter any city buildings? Or well, just walk around like a normal person?

The powers are really fun. No, you can't enter the buildings. Or at least, any buildings.

And yes, good lord yes. The pedestrian are there nearly only for you to kill "accidentally".

Oh, and you can walk around too. But why would you, when you can just fly? Well, glide, but whatever.

prototype was hulk: ultimate destruction with the serial filed off. Some of the moves/animations were ripped right from it.

Regarding mutations/powers: do you pay for them or do you have to unlock them by doing X, Y, Z? Is pack leader available for everyone? Is it OP?

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

The powers are unlocked through the story at certain points. The pack leader is one of the last things you unlock, I believe. It's not as OP as it sounds, but it's still rather fun to run around with a bunch of Brawlers wrecking people's day.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.

Some powers are gained by completing sets of challenges, objectives, or certain missions. Others are gained by levelling up. I believe Pack Leader is a power available for everyone. I certainly have it.

You can go into Blackwatch bases and Infected Lairs if you haven't completed the related missions, but once you complete you can't go back in...

And Pack Leader is mission-earned.

And pedestrians are good ammo! Or food...;p

I tried to hold off on murdering civilians as much as I could. Then I learned that there wasn't an achievement/trophy for it this time around, so I went around murdering civvies with my giant blade arm. It was cathartic.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.

Ooh! Something I liked was hitting Whitelight barrels in bases, then rolling them outside and infecting people. [lol] Then Blackwatch would roll out and start shooting them.

In fact, with enough Whitelight you could infect the whole city easily...;p

Funny thing about the Whitelight: when I was playing the mission, one of the evolved summoned a pack of his own, to which I responded in kind. So I was running after the barrels, being pursued by an Evolved, his pets and my pets who I had summoned to deal with his own pets. It was amusing.

Funnier thing about the Whitelight: It's red.

I guess that's because Alex contaminated it, though it's still misnoming. tongue

Um, you realize "whitelight" is a reference to the real name of the mercer virus? It's called "blacklight". So yeah, names not based on colors.

DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS.

Yes I know that. I also know that Elizabeth Greene contracted Redlight.

But Whitelight was supposed to be the cure. It's just red now because Alex poisoned it.

I'm just pointing out the obvious irony cause it's FUN.

This is not fun

This is details omission

You disgust me

But yeah, I think Blacklight too is red. Unless Mercer contamined his own virus when he started the second outbreak.

;) I eat people. What could you expect...

Blacklight just sounds a little more...cancerous.

I don't know how, but I really want a threequel. The victory achievement really makes me think that Alex is alive, however senseless that may sound, and I want to think that they may actually kill the outbreak.

[up][up] I still think that in the first Prototype, when Alex got blown by that nuke, there was multiple part of him that regenerated in multiple Alex and the one we face in this one is just not the "original" Alex, with the "original" going after Pariah.

Which makes me think, we still didn't get any news from Pariah. I really wanted to know what happened with that dude/abomination.

Who's an angry moth? You are! Yes you are! You're the fuzziest and angriest moth! Original pic.

I like that idea.

Also in the chaos of tearing NYZ apart I forgot all about PARIAH...all I remember now is that little cannibal kid from one of the memories Alex ate out of one of those Web of Intrigue targets.

You just can't leave a plot thread like that hanging.

I'm going to pretend that the Alex skin we'll be getting is a clone and the (relatively) good Alex from the first game. I know there's supposed to be a comic detailing how Alex went evil, but I much prefer my headcanon.

Does anyone else miss the ability to accuse other soldiers and order in air strikes while disguised? I kind of do.
