Right. I forgot or didn't know that. Don't know which. I'll have to look up CK 2's Jainism and see what features it does and doesn't have.
I wonder if, upon my heir becoming king, I can bribe vassals with positions and gold to keep them from forming factions. No matter how great a king a descendant ends up being they normally start off their reign with a civil war because someone else wants it and there's likely at least one other at some point during their reign.
Also, the Buddhist "holy war" is a glorified pagan county conquest CB.
That's pretty much what bribes and honorary titles are for - placate your vassals without giving them any concessions that will make it easier for them to fuck you later. For extra help, consider investing in Majesty to reduce the short reign penalty and Noble Customs to make them like you more.
Right. I should put my Chaplain on researching culture.
I was trying to do an Iron Man game as Scotland, however after 200 years or so my game crashed and now when I try to reload it says my save's corrupted so I won't get any achievements. Is there any way around this because frankly this was the first time I've managed to win against the Vikings?
Speaking of that, I think when I become Britannia my first target will be Scandanavia. I've had it with upstart Vikings raiding my coasts.
I think I might do another Viking run starting in Charlemagne so I can be the one to START the invasion.
In my Umayyad game, Vikings have been annoying mostly because the way I set about conquering Europe made it easy for them to to plop down on a province and chokepoint my entire operation. In a full scale war, that usually meant I had to sacrifice valuable manpower getting rid of them first - but that's less of a problem now.
Now they have a habit of attacking the provinces that provide the largest levies. Which is even worse, really.
I'll never get why they lay siege to provinces they don't have enough men to actually raid for months at a time.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. You think that's bad? I have random Pacific Northwest natives MARCHING across America to raid my capital in Omaha, despite having no way to get any loot home.
Last night I started another Sigurd Ring campaign. It's been fun so far. In two generations I made the Kingdoms of Svipjod and Danmark, lost Danmark and saw Norveyger and Finland form, then grabbed them all in a series of family feuds that left the Empire of Scandinavia within reach. And made it. So now most of the Viking lands are united in the early days of the Viking Age.
Next plan: Raid and settle Britannia and form the Empire of Seamark. It'll be a raider's paradise where they can make easy forays into the rest of Europe.
So, on the Paradox forums there's a new subforum for "project augustus", which is a secret project they've been working on for about as long as HOI 4. So they'll probably announce what it is during the Gamescom or the fan gathering next month. What do you think the game's gonna be?
1 2 We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. -KVMaybe it's a Livia simulator. Crusader Kings is basically that at times anyway, except you have to have land too.

Pharaoh Kings? Crusader Kings but in Ancient Egypt! (It's probably not that, but that would be cool.)
Could be a general dark age/antiquity game. Which would be nice if only because it would shut up the people who keep asking for an even earlier state date to be shoehorned into CK 2 (though there are a few really elaborate early scenario mods).
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. If Augustus is a clue and not a red herring, it's going to be Rome themed. If it's a red herring, fuck if any of us can give a serious guess. For all we know it IS Rome themed but an alternate history where Rome itself Into Spaced.
Project Nero would make sense for HOI 4, given Hitler's late war Nero Decree.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Hearts of Iron IV already has a subforum, though.
I hope HOI 4 is more user-friendly than 3.
I find Ho I 3 user-friendly enough...
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.My Scandinavia campaign progresses decently. I've got colonies in Kent, Suffolk, and Ostfriesland. We've had revolts, but with enough Prestige in the bank to summon Tribal Armies to put them down, so most of the Vassals are like, "yeah, this Emperor guy's a swell dude. He doesn't afraid of anything and he punches those Christians in the face."
@Librarian: I just consider a civil war to be an excuse to rearrange titles and break up internal blobs. They happen, they give me a chance to get some fighting done before returning my attention to whoever my target is.
I wonder how when destroying a title I can get my dukes to stay l with me when I get rid of it. The last time I tried to destroy a title a few Duchies broke off.
Nitpick: Jainism has no holy war CB, either.
