And yes, this is Visual Novel related.

Besides some weird trippy stuff with a giant centipede and a camera, this dream occurred in an ordinary high school. Ordinary, except for the fact that the school itself has grounds that cover several kilometers. The perspective is sort of me playing the VN.

So, in the main part, the main character is in a portable on the outskirts of the school's fields. He (it actually was she now that I think about it) realizes that they have to get to class within five minutes, before lunch ends. And, it's raining heavily. So, s/he runs through the fields, then tries to take a shortcut through a part of the school that is strictly off-limits. Lo and behold, they find a column of trucks transporting something through the off-limits zone. The trucks are surrounded by armed guards, and when the protagonist asks, they don't tell them anything. A little eavesdropping later, and s/he learns that the trucks are full of ammunition and weapons. Yeah.

So, s/he follows them, and a guy at the head of the column tells him/her to buzz off and when s/he doesn't, the guy doesn't really care and lets her follow, as long as s/he stays away from the trucks. A little while later, they reach a large yet run-down looking complex. The protagonist is rather far ahead, and they climb up a junk wall of shipping containers and stuff to get a better view. S/he loses his/her balance and knocks someone off the wall, but then climbs back up after being berated by the guy at the head of the truck column. At the very tip of the wall, trying to balance on a part of it, s/he stumbles, and has a choice between which side of the fall to fall on. I chose the side s/he came from, and fell to the ground and was knocked out.

A little later, the main character wakes up in a crappy apartment-like building, which is very dusty and hasn't been used. They get up and leave the building, which is just part of a few two storey houses, and goes into the central area of the complex, which is grassy, but the grass is yellowed and crappy. S/he sees a guy and a woman, and talks to them. The woman says that the protagonist can't leave, and has to stay in the complex, living in the crappy house. The protagonist reluctantly agrees when s/he figures out that they really can't leave, and the characters walk off through the gate out of the central area, and there's a white flash.

The protagonist is still in the complex. S/he sees the crappy house, and it's dustier than ever. They go to the central area, and see the same guy and the old woman, who is now aged. It's pretty apparent that quite some time has passed. The protagonist talks to the old woman, and learns that years have passed since s/he came to the complex, and the protagonist doesn't remember any of them. To deal with this, the old woman tells the main character to look through the complex's most fundamental, advanced piece of technology: their supercomputer, holding all of their personal records. The protagonist naturally goes there.

And that's where I woke up. The rest of the plot would be the main character going into the past through the computer, and living through parts of their time in the complex, and deciding the fate of not only them, but of the complex itself. I remember the art as being fantastic, the music even better, and the voice acting, in English, being absolutely perfect, and that it was the most breathtaking VN I had ever played.

A premonition, perhaps? Does a VN like this exist? If it does, tell me!! I need to play this, or at least someday make this.

I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.

There's a number of visual novels about time travel. This list from the VNDB even includes a few in English: http://vndb.org/g249

If you want to create a story like the one you described, then make sure you have a clear story goal (such as "let's use the supercomputer to correct what went wrong in the past").

Hm. I guess it could kind of count as time travel. It basically would have the main character using the computer to search through the complex's files, then learning about what they did (or, really, didn't) do to make the future what it is after the timeskip. Of course, the player would determine what they did in that interim. After all, the protagonist is motivated not only to know what went on, but to get back all the years they lost, for a reason that would be found out over the course of several routes.

I think the route structure would be based on a few things, and might look like this:

\\ Beginning \\ I \\ I \\ Fall Outside———————- Fall Inside \\ I I \\ I I \\ Route 1————Route 2 Route 3————Route 4

...or something like that. EDIT: Something like that, if the formatting would work out.

Ugh, I have way too many visual novel ideas. I need to get the first done, already!

You realize of course that now my subconscious won't give me peace until somebody makes this, right? *opens up text editor, definitely not with intentions of writing anything*

Also, out of curiosity, what style of music did it have?

The music was sorta like Kira Kira, the BG Ms at least. A number of vocal pieces, too, more than most V Ns I've played. In any case, it was awesome, as I remember it.

And yes, this really should be made. Only a VN could make this work.

Now that I've got actually working on this on my mind, it'd probably be easier if we could directly contact each other on this. Do you use MSN?
