Skullgirls Thread

I will that I do not find Smash as entertaining as other fighting games to watch. Is it "real fighter?" Perhaps, perhaps not.

Smash isn't my favorite fighter to watch but neither is super turbo. Seriously, neither of them should get in over skullgirls.

I just don't want Smash in because of the playerbase. The Smash community tends to make things miserable at EVO. I have nothing against watching the game itself.

Anyways, Smash just broke 45k while Super Turbo is sitting just below 39k. Skullgirls is around 31k if you're wondering. And there's only like an hour left. Welp, better hope that the Smash community can behave themselves this time.

Dear God, Shoryuken's functioning like ass. My computer literally crashed trying to handle it.

It's only 7:00 pst. Still 5 more hours.

So Smash broke 50 grand.

In other news, Skullgirls is steadily going up, but it's no use at this point.

As much as I don't like Smash, I must still (begrudgingly) congratulate the Smash community.

I think everyone deserves the chance to prove themselves and make up for former behavior - I too share an instinctive dislike for the higher-level Smash community based on past experiences, but I feel the game itself doesn't deserve to lose out because of it.

I hope the Smash community behaves themselves as well, if only because they're holding their own game back.

I do agree, though, that of the three games Skullgirls probably deserved to win most.

Yeah, Skullgirls is ahead of Super Turbo now. Unfortunately, it's nowhere near Melee's amount.

I would try to give the Smash community the benefit of the doubt, but their current behavior on the whole thing isn't doing anything good for my views on them.

I hang with Melee players online but mostly at Game FA Qs, which is more like a Melee outpost than a major forum. How have they misbehaved at Evo (or in general)? For Melee's sake I want Smashers to make a good impression at Evo so please tell me how they misbehave so I can tell them :p

Well, there was the incident where they harassed a player who won a tournament for using items (in rather clever ways mind you) and forced him to give his prize to his opponent. Then there was a month ago at EVO, which would be Apex, where a bunch of theft of various tournament equipment and paraphernalia occurred, that the organizer isn't sure he'll even be able to host it next year.

I have heard of the theft but not of the items tournament harassment. Both suck :/

We also had a controversy a couple months ago with thrown matches and pot splitting.

I feel generally that our community is insular and really fractured between Melee/Brawl (almost every Smasher plays only one Smash game). We also have a bit of a complex about being accepted by the traditional fighting game community but we don't make any effort to actually learn any other games.

That's my read on some of the Smash community's problems online but I don't attend tournaments anymore so I dunno how we are IRL.

Oh yeah, there was also this one story about Mew 2 King (a well known Smash player), who was with some other guys on a trip I think? I dunno. He wasn't helping them out when they got car trouble, and he (NSFW) ejaculated on someone else's bed.

Holy crap, Melee broke 60k, while Skullgirls is 8k behind. Super Turbo's out of the running now though. Come on Skullgirls!

If Skullgirls actually win then world will blow up since it means justice does exist
