Maybe Comstock doesn't actually have a beard and that poster is meant to invoke the whole "White Bearded Christian God" thing? After all it DOES say "Our Prophet" below.

I was more concerned with this part from that Game Informer article:

Salts and Tonics are Infinite's Eve and Plasmids

[...]

...When he ran low on power, he was able to consume Salts to get back up to speed, letting him continue to destroy his foes with awesome super powers.

Whoa whoa whoa. They're going back to the whole EVE mechanic? Didn't they make a great deal out of the fact that you COULDN'T recharge powers this time around which forced you to keep changing strategies instead of sticking with Electrobolt + Wrench the entire game?

Edit: OK, just saw the bit where "Father Comstock" is mentioned. I guess they're making him into more of a religious villain than a generic imperialist (if that "Hero of the Battle of Wounded Knee" poster was anything to go by). Just hope he's more interesting than Simon Wales.

Also, is it just me or all these previews seem to indicate a much bigger focus on religion than imperialism? Did Irrational somehow decided to tone down the political aspect to avoid controversy? (then again, that doesn't make much sense since going after religion would open an arguably WORSE can of worms...)

they might be going for the religious nature that imperialism often seems to have. RDR had the part in the first cutscene about how they were "bringing salvation to the natives," and there is a non-zero segment of the population who are all for the invasion of the Middle East today with the angle "We need to kill their leaders and convert the population to christianity."

of course, that's almost a direct quote from one of the most loathesome pundits in america, but still, there is that meme within some circles.

Elizabeth: Maybe Songbird has her put on more modest attire after he scoops her up?

She looks younger, so hopefully its a flashback or something.

I thought her original outfit was fantastic...

Giant evil mechanical songbirds are a Conservative lot.

Honestly I can't say I like the change. The previous outfit did show more then a little cleavage but it wasn't that over the top considering the setting and her social status. She just looks drab now.

I have to say, I really like how she looks now. I know, I know, it's not what everyone else thinks, but I think it's very practical, and it has a form that really makes me think of kindness and such, which is part of her personality.

Additionally, it creates a specific divide between her torso and her legs, which the all-blue (I think it was) outfit didn't. It makes her figure more realistic in my mind, even though they haven't shown her legs yet.

When I am REALLY excited about a game, I have the bad habit of scouring the net for info, even when it's chock-full of spoilers.

Thus I bring you a detailed recap of what is apparently the first hour of the game:

http://www.complex.com/video-games/2012/12/bioshock-infinite-walkthrough-guide-preview/

Few comments:

1) They're REALLY pumping up the religion with this game: the rocket you take to Columbia literally says "Hallelujah" when the city is seen (this was in another article), Booker is BAPTIZED before he's allowed in, Columbia is described as the "closest thing to Heaven before Judgement Day comes, etc". There's still good old fashioned xenophobia, since Booker can win the "prize" of throwing a baseball at an interracial couple.

2) There's also borderline worship of great American historical figures, like Washington... though there's a KKK-esque group who apparently idolizes JOHN WILKES BOOTH for having killed the man who freed the slaves. WOW.

3) Apparently Comstock is the one who does the "projected face" routine now. And he uses Child Soldiers. One of which kills himself to stop Booker.

...I played through Amnesia without so much as a jolt, and had only a token reaction to Spec Ops The Line. Yet just reading this stuff freaks me out. What the hell does that say about me?

P.S: Maybe it's because journos only had access to this early part but the Vox Populi are hardly mentioned. I just hope they didn't suddenly decide to neuter their political stance or make them the outright heroes.

Her looks got people's attention. It was a good design.

Its not like she was walking around in a thong.

The new design just looks...dull.

Context, dude.

1912 was not a time that someone walking around with a corset would be take any higher than a whore.

I don't recall people shooting fireballs out of their hands in 1912 either.

She looks like a school girl now. Which is what I'm assuming is the case (flash back or a different outfit)

So walking diver suit monstocities, magical bio powers, underwater and floating cities, mind control, talking brains, and god knows what else are all okay and such.

But a girl in a corset is the biggest sin?

Well I only have seen some screenshots, what has changed?

Alright, enough, both of you.

So long as she looks cute, I'm fine with either.

Anyway, how 'bout dat time-meddling?
