Lots of people here will tell you that they make their kids get it on purpose, or that they were exposed to it on purpose, so that the disease would pass with minimum fuss.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur. There was a long cut to black?
Fresh-eyed movie blogYes there was. For some reason, the signal went out and there was a black screen instead of the commercials. It made me say "Hey, where is... everything? :S"
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. There was a 30 second cut to black, yes. Extremely odd. They said it was a technical issue.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"yeah, ""technical issue"". truth is that they took that time to change the outcome of the game.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI didn't know that there was a chicken pox vaccine, I was born in ‘93 but apparently the NHS don’t do the vaccine as routine, it’s just given to non-immune healthcare workers and people who come into close contact with someone with a weakened immune system.
I actully caught chicken pox twice as a kid, the second time was in fairness because I went and played at the house of a kid who had it, with us thinking I was immune after having caught it once already.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranThey were probably updating the firmware in your brain during that blackout.
Optimism is a duty.Assuming 60 FPS, 1/2400 speed is one frame every 40 seconds. Or maybe more, I don't know what FPS they broadcast TV in.
On one level this sounds like an oddly fun passtime, if you have an infinite amount of time to throw away. Like I'm picturing the people in the "What football will look like in the future?" story doing this.
The most recent season of Doctor Who had a story where time moved much faster at one end of a spaceship than the other, and people at the fast end were watching a monitor from the other end, betting on things like if someone's mouth was going to be closed by the end of the day.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI think one frame per second would be an interesting experience as well.
Optimism is a duty.Exchange backpacks for purses and I do this too. It's way too hard to find a purse of the right size with the right pockets in the right configuration. And which goes with what I wear.
i just got a messenger bag. it's fashionable and has everything i need with generically big pockets.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeMan up and buy a satchel.
I tend to get more stuck on the "do I need to buy this" part of the decision for inordinately long periods of time.
Once I actually do make up my mind to buy something (which to be clear, could potentially be years after I've identified a need for it), if anything I probably spend far less time making decisions then I probably should. The fact I literally work in retail actually makes me worse at this, since I tend to lean on my employee discount as a substitute for doing any comparison shopping.
On another note, I'll be surprised if Friday's comic doesn't involve the Tesla Roadster currently orbiting the sun. Seems to be the sort of news item that would make it into the comic.

Fresh-eyed movie blogThat's recursive humor for ya. It does make a crazy kind of sense. The Alt Text really sells it, too.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Now this is a really funny one Also surprisingly relatable to my field of study- Randall usually does comics related to math, programming, or physics.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeSadly, I cant see the alt text. Android phone.
So do I. Your options are to change the address to m.xkcd.com/whatever and tap the link that says "alt text", change the address to xkcd2.com/whatever, probably click past the security warning because the fan who set up that site didn't renew the certificate, or install an xkcd viewer app and let it claim all links to xkcd like I did. (I use Easy xkcd)
I think there's a Tumblr blog that scrapes the new strips and places the alt text in the caption too.

According to my parents, I managed to avoid getting it on accident for just long enough that they were about to try to get me chicken pox on purpose, when I happened to get it on accident anyways. And then I proceeded to have a particularly bad case, probably since I was at the upper end of the age group for this.
