I never heard of SO being involved in an OS. Forums on the other hand...

I dunno, now I kinda wanna see a Stack Overflow operating system, if only because it would presumably be called "SOOS".

I'd rather not, SO's creator is an infiniscroll evangelist. I don't want an infinitely scrolling desktop with non-working scrollbars.

I think the idea is an OS implemented by asking how to make an OS on SO? tongue

I didn't find the comic especially funny, but I like the alt text. Date formatting is just like character encoding: a bane of all programmers, especially web developers. Which also reminds me of this comic. It's strange that we still cannot adapt to a standard that was published in 1988.

On a side note, if you look at the alt text of the titles on the archive page, it shows the date of each comic in an almost standard format, except that it doesn't have the leading zeros.

I must say that "faxting" makes me wince just looking at it.

[up]I suppose it involves faxing an image that would otherwise have been sexted to its intended recipient.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot

In Ye Olde Days, sending someone a picture of your junk took a few more steps than it does today.

And here I thought that sort of thing only happened since we started having cameraphones.

There are videos of people trying to photocopy their asses then falling into the machine because the glass breaks. I saw this before the era of camera phones.

"Faxting" mostly makes me wince because the word itself just looks awful though. It's a terrible portmanteau.

Mhm. It should probably be 'fexing', since a guy with no concept of email probably doesn't know what texting is either.

[up][up] That one could be right out of our tropology. Love it.

[up] As noted in the article, sooner or later, humanity would discover the existence of fairies in a scientifically indisputable fashion and it would stop being common for them to die due to lack of belief.

But note that it occurs whenever someone says "I don't believe in faeries", regardless of actual belief. Once people figure out that that's the case, then I'd think that the faerie numbers would drop immensely, potentially to the point of extinction.

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.
