No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Crazed sounds like one of the better veteran skills for Ogryns. I don't think they would profit much for shooting re-rolls.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Yeah that or Hardened Fighters.
I did forget to mention that those Veteran Skills were available to all Imperial Guard units along with other skills that Ogryns couldn't take such as Freedom Fighters (set bobby traps), Slick Crew (Heavy Weapons can fire a second shot if the first hits), or Stealthy (ignore movement penalties while in cover and receive +1 to their Combat Score while fighting in such terrain). Ratlings had to pay double for Crazed and Grizzled though.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it Wellah the second edition, back when the Guard still sucked
advancing the front into TV TropesFocus Home really likes using that narrator for their Warhammer games, don't they? It's the same one as the Battlefleet Gothic: Armada trailers. Not that I'm complaining.
Game looks cool though. It actually reminds me a lot of what Aliens: Colonial Marines was purported to be. I especially dig that the Dark Angels are getting their own game. Hopefully it turns out to be good.

"Preferably the latter, because... you know, they kinda need a lot of psykers to feed to the Emperor. And turn into Astropaths. And use to combat the enemies of mankind as Sanctioned Psykers. "
Maybe but until the black ship come you are on you own....and you kind know what happen when Psyker get mad...
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Oh wow, it's an FPS? I thought it would just be another turn-based thing!
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.seems to have similarities to Left 4 Dead
advancing the front into TV TropesSomeone has done a survey of 40K players. Some interesting results includes:
80% of people who responded preferred casual games with only 38% preferring competitive games.
Most responders thing 7th Edition is the best edition and the Games Workshop in general make superior models to other companies but inferior rules.

Knowledge is Power, Guard it Welldamn good fluff though.... when they don't fuck it up
advancing the front into TV TropesBecause tabletop is where the money is.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.That's the reason I prefer the novels and the RPG material to the Codex stuff, its usually better done.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Ok, Im reading old fluff and aparenly Corax use to have a diferent fluff about how he know the emperor, for what Im reading it mention Corax being the rebel leader of slave-tribe who swarn the rebel until the high part of the hive city where they unleash virus bomb in which adoptive parents of Corax, Feligion and Tigrissa die, whem he goes in a roaring rampange of vengence, killing all who opose him by himself and kill the leader, call Lord cortez, saying "Vengence dosent end in death" and after that he just go into the jungle.
Also it said Corax was fighting in south border against a huge ork empire when the Horus heresy happen, so it wasn near core when fight between the emperor and Horus happen, he request a audience with the emperor and when he saw him in the golden throne decide to take vengance and go into the eye of terror with the first company, without Poe-line and all.
and funny thing here, it said Alpharius was the rival of Corax, always a competivie guy he try to best Corax in how many worlds he take to the point he spread his force to thin to the point the Raven guard have to save him, the envy of that make Alpharius paranoic about Corax which make him go against him and for extention the emperor, becoming bitter rivals since them.
And for last it said the Raven guard decide to watch the black ship of the inqusition, guarding them against everything....
So....wow, no?
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Very strange...and I'm glad it's changed to what it is now.
I won the second game of our league last night...opponent played Iron Warriors. Last minute, I decided to use a Thunderfire Cannon instead of an Assault Squad and it saved my butt, and I got really lucky by taking out his Warpsmith and an Aspiring Champion with bolters. His Helbrute also whiffed badly with its multi-melta trying to kill my drop pod.
I am currently reading Index Astartes Apocrypha (the collection of old White Dwarf articles and other books released for the 30th Anniversary of the Marines) and you should see some of the1st Edition/Rogue Trader fluff such as the Space Wolves homeworld being a place called Lucan and the Ultramarines (or Ultra-Marines as they were at the time) being a 3rd Founding Chapter who had a half-elder as Chief Librarian.
Well Done. Thunderfire Cannons are very useful.
Are you using the Angels of Death supplement as that has some Salamander stuff?
Very nice

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellYeah, I will admit I like this story for Corax since it give a native background while the one he have now is to basic.
Im reading now the one from Konrad curze and so far that stay the same, the only diferent is in the old version there is like records from astropath, historian and other stuff, is a minor detail but I like it, also it said the main flaw of Konrad was he didnt understand diplomacy or other tactic, for him every problem should be sove with force(kind like the imperium actually)
Also, term like "heresy" "Imperial cult" and other are use freely which clash a lot with the actual background of a state atheism of the imperium
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"also the Smurfs were HERETICS at the time, plus Primarchs weren't the genetic sons of The Emperor, just the greatest heroes from the past of each chapter
advancing the front into TV Tropesoh and the Faaaaaabulous Custodes were canon
advancing the front into TV TropesOh, if the raven guard confuse you, let said the white scar.
First the planet was Devenar III in the kolarne circle close to the center of the galaxy and was poplated by orks for nearby empires, the planet have one continent divide by montain, the Ork in one plase and in the other a human civilization where there is and almost peacefull civilization where they learn the marcial art know as Do(really) a style made by daughter and sons of Light, it dosent mention their name but said there are four(yeah....) and one of them is Kali the destroyer, the other is siva the life giver
The monks call all the templer to face the ork in the desert of the white scar(name for the salt deposit gather there) and face the work and they crup stomp them by fast ligthing atack in the time they throw a light in the sky
But the Khan didnt land into 300 years latter, when he does and grow in his firthteen birthday face the old master of the order and....he is defeat by him(YEAH!) who them told him that he should strike fast, otherwise all his streght end in nothing
But the weird shit dosent end here, oh not sir, you see in one festival he found a girl call Ariana and fell in love with her(I swear) and marry her(or the closet thing there) and have a child(yep) them the ork return and Jaghatai decide to finish them by getting is oen force of Monks with white tunics and scar, he defeat the ork until he find out they are smarter than usual and have very old weapons...it was trap and he fall for it.
So he goes to defend his home only to find rise to the ground, some thing where save thanks to secret order call the dancing terror who brace Kali without the guiding of Siva, Jaghatai ask for Ariana only to find out she sacrifice her life to stop the ork, he swear revenge and his follower go biltzerg campain agains all orks until the decapitate the leader.
So anyway he get sad and star mooping for a time until a huge electrical storm arrive and see a human being dress in a glorious armour, Jaghatai ask who he is, he said is the emperor of mankind and when the khan ask if he is a god, he smile sarcarsly and said "some people would said I im"
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Their near-naked look was, at least.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. Not yet, I just picked it up today and haven't had a chance to look through it in detail. I also picked up another Triarch Stalker (our FLGS had it on clearance) and the Nightbringer...I've been wanting to have a C'tan ready for a while now and may put other stuff on hold while I get that model knocked out.
I wonder if this Space Marine Chapter is still canon.
IIRC, there was one Chapter composed of Space Marines who had the Pariah gene as an experiment for the Imperium to make a powerful anti-pskyer force. However, the Necrons learned about them and managed to capture and turned them into Necron Pariahs. These so called "Pariah Knights" were a big threat since they were Pariahs, Necron and Space Marine all in one.
those are the Reasonable Marines, they're fan made
advancing the front into TV TropesKnocked out the Nightbringer today...probably could've been cleaner and brighter, but I had no idea how to approach it paint-scheme wise and just decided to go with dark blues, grays, and metallics.
On today's 2nd Edition Thursday: Ogryns
During 2nd Edition Ogryns cost 235 Points for a squad of 5. You couldn't have more ore less in a squad and you couldn't give them unit champions either. They had the following statline: M6 WS4 BS3 S5 T5 W3 I4 A2 Ld8
Ogryns were always armed with a Ripper Gun and Frag Grenades. They also had Flak Armour.
2nd Edition Ripper Guns had a Short Range of 0-6" and always hit when firing at this range, you didn't roll any dice. The Ripper Gun's Long Range was 6-12" and when firing at this range the Ogryn had a -2 on his To Hit Rolls. Ripper Guns were Strength 4 had a -1 Save modifier and had D6+4 when trying to penetrate vehicles.
Flak Armour was also different in 2nd Edition, giving a basic armour save of 6 on a D6. If hit by a weapon that used a Blast Template however Flak Armour gave the wearer a 5+ save on a D6.
Ogryns could be upgraded to wear Mesh Armour 5+ on a D6) and could be upgraded to Veterans by buying a Veteran Skill: Crazed - Ignores Psychology and takes Break Test after loosing 50% of their Squad rather than 25% in a turn; Dead Eye Shot - Re-roll Shooting misses; Grizzled - Roll 3D6 and use the best 2 for Ledership based tests; Hardened Fighters - Re-roll an Attack Dice in close combat and cannot be parried; Street Fighters - When in Soft Cover (bushed, woods, etc.) they are hit on a -2 To Hit roll rather than a -1 and when in Hard Cover (walls, etc.) they are-3 To Hit rather than -2; Tank Hunters - Re-roll Armour Penetration dice when using grenades against Vehicles.
Ogryns could also be taken by in Ork armies. They had the same stats as Imperial Ogryns but could be taken in squads of 1-10 and were armed with basic Axes or Clubs and wore Primitive Armour (6 save on a D6 or 5+against Primitive Weapons such as Bows and Crossbows)
