I don't know if this represents a return to what they stored in the memory units that are Schlock's species or if this is the influence of Sgt. Shlock's incredibly violent mindset.
I assume he's missing his most recent billion years or so of memory, so last he checked his species was still at the height of its power soon after their perfection of immortality, with none of the lessons in failure and humility that would come later. Maybe they should bring Rod in to talk to him.
I think it's safe to say that Howard is making "what kind of changes can be made before you stop being 'you'?" into a major theme for this book (or at least this arc). About time, with all the miracle regenerative surgery in past volumes (especially the early ones).
Also about time because Howard is really good at attacking philosophical issues in his comic without, you know, ceasing to be funny. So it's always good seeing him do that some more.
Your funny quote here! (Maybe)I dunno if any of you are in Schlock Mercenary Facebook group.
If you are, you might not be for much longer.
....now thats Schmuck Bait if I ever saw it.
Apparently Mr Tayler wants the Schlock page more cared for and sacrifices his facebook friends to the hive mind for it.
"You can reply to this Message!"What's happening?
I'd log into Facebook to find out but I hate Facebook.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents. What's wrong with our page? It's not as up to date as it could be, but that's a problem most webcomics have. They aren't the highest-traffic pages. At least it's formatted properly, including the character page.
The not up to date is what I meant We could always use more vict...ehm drone...ehm...volunteers for it?
"You can reply to this Message!"@Dorku: this sillyness is what's happening.
Huh. That is...odd.
You are dazzled by my array of very legal documents.Given the "you can post one but two is banned" thing I still say this is either Schmuck Bait or Howard just wanting to kick off a bit of action on the group ^^
"You can reply to this Message!"It's been a policy in that group for a while now, though as a relatively recent member there I don't know how long "a while" actually is.
It does remind me that I'm behind on recent edits to the page, though. Unfortunately I haven't the time to address it, nor will I until... some time next week I think.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpBut Ventura, technically it was.
I could imagine her thinking Schlock doesn't count, since he's sapient but not programmable.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableAnd she doesn't know he's a machine (or at least started out that way).
I have a complaint about the political asylum thing. Obviously we don't know what laws are in place here, but Bunny is Vog's doctor, and can testify that he is legally insane due to amnesia and personality shift (that is, brain damage) leaving him unable to properly understand what is going on. Any judge worth his gavel would refuse his request for asylum and leave him in Bunny's custody.
Of course. Doesn't mean they won't argue about it. You see this cold and from the outside, they are arguing hot and without that outside point of view, so it may not be obvious to them.
And on the flip side, he is asking Asylum from Bunny, so you could make a case that her statement is inherently suspect. Not saying it is, but a good lawyer might make the point.

"You can reply to this Message!"The way to do it would be to take him back to his homeworld and get a memory transfer from one of the others. That's if Schlock can't provide enough memories himself.
Trying to feed all the missing memories back into him is both a bad idea and probably impossible, but I do think sending him back to his home planet (or more specifically, the remnants of his people that they found him with) would be a good course of action. If anyone can talk sense back into him, it's them.
Then again, maybe the other survivors were of the lower castes and aren't worthy to lick his boots. Who knows?
Your funny quote here! (Maybe)Well of course she doesn't do it directly. Hell she even mentioned that it was more complex to give him the language than just dropping it in (despite their brains being practically mini-amorphs by themselves)
Schlock can isolate language, surely the few hours of memories pertaining to their brief period with the rest of Vog's people would be enough to at least give him an overview of what he needs to know about the past few million years?
