Minecraft, it's my new drug. :P
WHO WANTS STAKE? *CACKLE*CACKLE*Technically it should be "Tetris Effect Testimonials," by the way.
mudshark: I don't expect Nate to make sense, really.Unreal Tournament. I played it from March 2002 until end of last year (2009), when my fave server was shut down. I rarely missed a day. I was playing for hours, I was member of two clans, and I couldn't ever stop. I still play it every once in a while, and it's as awesome as ever.
Best. Game. Ever.
"We have done the impossible and that makes us mighty." - Malcolm ReynoldsTeam Fortress 2 has consumed so much of my time, even on the forcibly vanilla 360 version, that when I'm not here or on TF2, I'm on Steam Forums suggesting awesome new items. (Just look for a thread called 'These Boots'.)

Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.Tropico 3. It's like Sim City WITH THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES! But seriously, I enjoy being El Presidente a lot.
I woke up this morning, seeing somekind of transparented Company of Heroes hud in my eyes and I wondered "Hell, not enough space to build Wehrmacht Quarters..." maybe I should play Company of Heroes in shorter sessions.
I get really, REALLY obsessive with games due to my hyperlexia, so pretty much ANY game can instill the Tetris Effect in me.
Except, ironically, for Tetris.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Having played some of the Resident Evil series lately, I've been having Kleptomanic Hero tendencies.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.This troper likes RPGs, Magical Girls and dolls, so its not really surprising that I've been playing Final Fantasy X-2 since I got it over three years ago (Sixteen new game plusses so far). I actually say I need to Spherechange when I needed to change clothes sometimes. I also hear Zanarkand's theme (and 1000 words) in my head way to often...
Oh, and Dissidia Final Fantasy / Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep / Persona 3 Portable, stupid PSP...

Infinity...Zelda and Fallout make me want to explore, while Assassin's Creed 2 has caused me to examine every building around me to see how I could climb it. It has also caused me to flex my fingers in anticipation for the Hidden Blades. Also, when I sprint to the train station in the morning, I can see the control mapping in my mind's eye. Call of Duty has caused me to hold objects in my hands as if they were rifles.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I once saw a helicopter using a searchlight to search the area (I live in a rural, forested area) and felt the need to find cover due to bad experiences with choppers with searchlights from GTA and the Modern Warfare mission, Hunted.

So, in the U.S., randomly stripping is a signal that you want to sing the national anthem? - That HumanAnd again regarding Resident Evil, I'm becoming extremely cautions around blind corridors.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Kingdom Hearts completely dominates my thoughts these days. I have the OST on my iPod. I occasionally doodle a keyblade here and there[1]. I have long discussions on it with one friend, and defend it from two others. I spend too much brainpower WMG-ing and collating scraps of evidence within the series to support my theory. I occasionally think about Aqua. It hurts. Hell, the OST has made it incredibly difficult for me to listen to a lot of songs that aren't extremely fast paced or orchestral[2], and I often find myself humming some of my favourite pieces or tapping them out on my knees[3].

[2] Rock is, of course, still allowed. I think I'm legally obligated to like it at my age in my demographic.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Holy dammit Christmas.
Minecraft.
The wife went to bed last night at about 10. I said, "I'll just stay up a few minutes longer and I'll be back." Popped open Minecraft and suddenly I realize I've gotta wake up for work in 4 hours and I've not finished my crater lake, yet. Stupid priorities.
So I keep digging.
And now I'm at work, still looking at articles on Minecraft's wiki.
Damn you, Notch.
Still the best $13-odd bucks I've ever spent.
I see Minecraft blocks when I close my eyes...

The Protomen enhanced my life.Have you reached the point yet where you start a very detailed system in your mind about how to terraform the environment around you into something more aesthetically appealling? I have.
ZETTAI HERO PROJECT. I bought this game last thursday, with two tests the day after. I was gonna try it out for an hour. Next thing I know, it's been 4 hours and 40 minutes, and I had learned far too little.
Just a couple hours back, I did the Cadaver spam trick, and logged on, checked my profile site, webcomics, the like, all the while tapping X on my PSP so I could keep leveling.

Stargate SG-1 Let's Watch. Because my ZHP thing failed. Its annoying when people misunderstand what "the tetris effect is". Play Touhou Project for a while, then go and play Dodgeball, theres the Tetris effect for ya
Rule #1: Obey Rule #2 Rule #2: Ignore Rule #1Count me into the group that gets this with Minecraft. I remember sitting at a desk one time, bored out of my mind, and just looking around the building thinking, "Okay, I'd make that part of the wall out of sandstone, that part out of brick, the ceiling out of white wool, etc."
Also, does this trope apply to games I haven't actually played yet? Because I'm starting to develop Tetris Effect with Skyward Sword. I keep doing the sword motions and getting sad when there's nothing for me to slash at. :(
The 3DS, when I first bought it, so engrossed me that whenever I viewed a non-3D screen after that, I saw double.
GUESS WHO'S GONNA HAVE TO MOP UP ALL THIS BLOODRiver City Ransom has made me fond of uppercutting things.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.When I first got Meteos, I'd play it for hours on end. Sooo addicting. Whenever I saw multicolored tiles, I'd try to match them up in my head. Then I'd get confused when they didn't shoot up. I'd also dream of playing Meteos in my sleep. Even at school, I'd try to match up 3 people with the same colored shirts. In my head, of course.
Pokemon will do this to me in waves. I'll pour a good two months into constructing and tweaking a team, then leave it for a while after I get it working. Then a month later, I'll have a new idea, and it's back at it!
Really, though, any game with particularly deep character construction will do that to me to a certain level. Etrian Odyssey, any number of MM Os, Shin Megami Tensei backwards and forwards... Putting characters and teams together just seems to push my buttons. :P
But somehow,◊
