It was recorded in 2019-2020, so it's a coincidence more than anything.
Did anyone watch Harbo Wholmes' video on the Doctor and River? I'm wondering if anyone had an opinion on the pairing
I have this fan idea of a new Time Lord villain that's basically a vampire who absorbs people's lifeforce so he can maintain the same incarnation in perpetuity. A sort of dark mirror to the Doctor being more individualistic about his incarnations than most Time Lords

Big Finish has announced a new series, called Dark Gallifrey, focusing on villainous Time Lords...which so far just means three versions of the Master (Bruce, War, and Missy) and also, Morbius.
However, there are more stories to be announced and I'm hoping they'll adopt some villains that are actually from the Gallifrey series. If we have to get another Master, I'd prefer the Bald one.
I think I read somewhere that as of now, Jacobi has played the Master more than anyone else (as in, number of stories). I'm not sure if that's true, but he's got to be up there.
The War Master stuff is some of my favorite Doctor Who in any medium, and honestly my go-to example when I think about the importance of stories that are good over stories that "matter."
I'm wondering EU-wise if the Master co-opting the Cybermen predates. Missy. I know he outplays the Cybermen in the Fifth Doctor but their role in that special wasn't meant to be that big
So, I spent the last half year (or maybe even more) rewatching all of new who with a friend. It was first viewing for him, he knew next to nothing about Doctor who. I realized to late that it would have been fun to post updates on our experience while we were watching it, oh well.
I will post some of our thoughts later but for now, I wanna talk about Orphan 55.
Actualy, it is better than most people remember. Let me explain. I wasn't very keen on watching this episode again, but when we came around to it, I actually enjoyed most of it. The virus that can jump from a vending machine to a person (sneeze into this bag, then suck your thumb) is exactly the kind of nonsense I enjoy and the planet of the apes style twist that it was earth all along is good in principle.
The first three quarters or so of the episode are pretty standard new who. Where it all falls apart is when the episode stops in it's tracks to deliver a moral lesson and becomes so terribly preachy. It is that moment that ruins the episode (even retroactively) for people. Basically it is the Game of Thrones problem, the finish ruins the race.
Seriously, you could keep the twist the same, remove the preachy monolouge, and it would be a decent episode. With some more rewrites even a good one. But the way it is, it loses all good will in the finale and leaves a bad aftertaste. (By the way, is there a trope for that? Because between this episodes, GOT and How i met your mother, I know three examples of this)
You lost! It's not an uncommon sentiment that even weaker NuWho is better binged. I suppose dud episodes and disappointing arcs don't sting nearly as much when you don't have to wait for them and can move on to the next immediately.

I said this about Flux a lot. Splitting it up makes the flaws really obvious, binging it all together makes it flow much better.
Not Three Laws compliant.I was recently reviewing The Waters of Mars and wondered. If Rosa Tyler had been present in this episode , would she have condemned the Doctor for his pride or shared it?
Personally, I'm leaning towards the second option, because Rosa has never really respected the laws of the universe. She tried to save her father, resurrected Jack, and tried her best to escape from a parallel world. Of course, she did it to save loved ones or reunite with them. She is a compassionate person, like the Doctor, so she would not be able to just watch people die.
So if she were in this episode, she and the Doctor would brag about their power in front of Adelaide (I wouldn't mind seeing it). Although her suicide would certainly have affected Rosa as well.
I feel if any companion was there in that episode, the Doctor would have saved the astronauts but the Time Lord Victorious mania would have not been there. Likely time would have altered time but eh, I dont think the weight would have been as severe
Pantheon server for all who click here. Freaking lost $410 and I am hunting down for a nuke to reign down. It's come to light that the 2024 Christmas special will be written by Steven Moffat
Oh. Looking forward to that.
Cool. I look forward to it.

Here’s a trailer… that probably won’t be seen for a bit because YouTube embedded videos aren’t playing right now so I’ll post a link too: https://youtu.be/jHUgqH3a75c?si=Ke_c2cmJrQk-zLyV

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. So effectively thanks to simultaneous broadcast and timezones, US get to see it early? Or UK fans have to watch it at midnight.
It feels like it would be more sensible to have it the midnight after the bbc broadcast, not the one before.

Yeah, this will run a lot of people the wrong way
You lost!I don't mind staying up late one time to catch the first episode...but it's a two episode premiere, so I'm likely going to wait 'till Saturday morning to see that one, as I have family around in the afternoon.
A few years ago, the recent seasons of Red Dwarf often had their episodes drop in the morning on UKTV Play before their transmissions on the DAVE channel.
Yeah I really disagree with this airing strategy. It's a BBC show, the UK should absolutely get priority. I thought the 14th Doctor specials getting a Saturday primetime slot was a good sign but this is a hard whiplash in the opposite direction. Just air it at a normal time in the UK and put it on Disney+ after that.
I’m just gonna watch on Saturday. Much more manageable.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Ian Levine is up to mischief again, using A.I-assistance to reconstruct missing episodes. His current project is a restoration of The Daleks Masterplan, the first episode of which is on Youtube.

Oh god, that looks creepy as hell. And it still fucks up the hands somehow.
Not Three Laws compliant. That is uncanny as hell. Every time someone moves their lips it looks like that one Yop commercial.
I’m sorry, but you have Stage 9 Animes.Official now: Steven Moffat has written one new episode for Ncuti's first series
Knew Moffatt would return to Doctor Who.
Should've never left to begin with.
I like that idea because it makes me think the Toymaker is so petty he would wipe his memories of the event just because he's embarrassed that he keeps losing to the Doctor
