Did anyone else feel like that was kind of a dick thing to say? I mean, unless I'm very much mistaken, everyone here would like to see a female Doctor, but the Doctor's hardly the only character worth writing - I'd at least be willing to listen to ideas Whedon might have for a companion.

Oh God! Natural light! It felt very "I want progressive points".
What em said.
Rachel Talalay is American.
Haven't there been American writers, or is the closest they've come having Americans write for Torchwood?
Fresh-eyed movie blogThe newest episode of Who Back When features...

So many men!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Call me when it's raining them.
Any news on the new season?
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Still in the middle of production, just finished block 1 of production or something. Last I saw, Capaldi and Pearl Mackie were in Spain shooting episode 2. Some guy called Ralf Little kind of sort of confirmed he'll be in the new series.
If the Doctor was female, would she suddenly start picking male companions?
I don't see why she has to, fill TARDIS girl with ladies.
Ladies with ladies inside other ladies.
All ladies.
Like a mastroika doll
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI mean, if you were to ask me how to do it, I'd say bring back the 3 person Tardis crew, with one male companion and one female companion.
But all ladies is fine too.
Oh God! Natural light!SPACE LESBIANS IN SPACE
The internet is a waste of time, and that's exactly what's right about it-William GibsonI like all of those words and the particular arrangement that you put them in
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNever going to happen. Doctor Who is a "kid's" show after all.
You say that like we don't already have a reoccurring lesbian couple.
Not in the lead pairing we don't. And that's never going to happen, as I said. The moral minority fuckwits over here would go insane if they tried it, and their lickspittle lackeys in the press would be backing them up with all guns blazing.
And our politicians, regardless of stripe, listen to these otherwise disregard-able chuckleheads all too often.
So Paul McGann's going to be in Dublin this weekend so, going back to when I asked about Davison stuff, what's McGann material that this thread would recommend? I've only ever listened to his first two Big Finish audios and the first couple Lucie Miller stuff. Maybe I should actually finally watch the TV Movie....

Going briefly over Who Back When's audio reviews, No More Lies, Max Warp, Brave New Town, and Grand Theft Cosmos all rated pretty highly.
I really liked all of the NEDA's, but those ones are definitely the best. The first series is pretty consistent, they're all very fun. Max warp from the second series is absolutely fantastic. After the second series things get a bit dark but they're still very good.
It's a family show, but I think it could definitely get away with space lesbians in space. The daily mail would complain but they complain about everything.
The internet is a waste of time, and that's exactly what's right about it-William GibsonHello, I've decided to watch Dr Who. Any hints on viewing order?
I started from Revived Series (so 9th Doctor) and I watch them according to recap page with adding stuff I find on wiki (so after finishing second season, I watched Tardisodes. Didn't really wanted to see them before episodes anyway.) My last episode so far was "Smith and Jones".
My big worry are spin-offs, Sarah Jane and Torchwood. I am aware that most perfect viewing order would some kind of mad shuffle, but any chance I can just finish Dr Who, then watch Adventures of Sarah, then Torchwood (or should I do other way around?) and I will be just fine?

You should be fine just watching Who for a while. Give Torchwood a go a bit further down the line.
Skip Miracle Day though. It's not as good as the rest.

Whedon's still a pretty good writer in my opinion but I'm not sure if his style of story telling fits Doctor Who. He works best with ensemble casts but the revival has stuck pretty hard to having one main companion with occasional guest companions. Amy and Rory were the only ones to break that pattern.
