Didn't we basically get that for the Daleks in Series 6?
Oh God! Natural light!Damnit, couldn't y'all have tagged information from set pics as being spoilers?
And yes, for two and a half years, Daleks didn't have a story about them, and I think it was a wise choice. I also think Asylum was a story which justified their return.
We've had three Dalek-centric stories in the ~5 years since the Moffat era began, and two of them were the obligatory 'the new Doctor encounters the Daleks' story.
The show can't dial them back much more than they already have without losing the rights to use them.
I really like the way Moffat generally uses the Daleks incidentally, rather than just doing obligatory episodes focusing on them repeatedly.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI loved Eleven, but I'm satisfied with him and loving having a more mature Doctor now.
I'm torn. I thought Eleven was my Doctor, but I didn't realize how hungry I was for what Twelve is serving up.

Fresh-eyed movie blogTimes change, and so must we.
Oh God! Natural light!I think the show has to use the Daleks once a year or they lose the rights. Is a thing I keep hearing anyway.
Which is why they made those cameo appearances in Waters Of Mars and The Wedding Of River Song.
I mean. I can sorta buy the Terry Nation estate cooking up an insane licensing agreement like that.
I want to show my dad the other half of Series 5 before I move out in three weeks, but I also feel like I'm going to need a few months's space before I can enjoy Eleven again. It's a period that is over, but still very recent, and I feel like space is important for moving on.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI keep hearing the rites thing. But I'm not sure I've ever heard any official word on it.
I thought it was a fairy tale until 9 years into New Who and it lines up perfectly that there is always a Dalek appearance in a year.
Eleven is brilliant. On my list of possible two Doctor Stories, Eleven and Twelve are probably at the top. Seven Eleven and Three Nine are towards the top too.

I was reading this post, and I was thinking, how unknowable is intent? I agree with a lot of what's being said, but I couldn't help thinking that, if the writer was alive, if one could simply ask.
Of course, that presumes that one could reach the writer, and even if you could, they might not be truthful. But come on. If I was a writer...
*smiles*
...would I lie to you?
Oh God! Natural light! All writing is an obfuscation of the truth because the truth is too unfathomably vast and any attempt to present it just slaps a frame over a portion.
Its far far better to just become one with the universe and know everything be everything
but you have to decapitate a lot of people to get to that point.
Its not for everyone, I will admit.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn truth we don't experience anything outside of our brains, and we can't even verify that's the location.
Science is a faith that your memories of words written on pages of books you can't name written by writers you've never met are reliable.
Death of the author means that they aren't.
Death of the audience means one couldn't.
It's the best we've got.
Better than the alternative anyway.

EDIT: I'm starting to think we're posting to The Eruditorum Guy's tumblr a little too much.
I mean, it's one thing when it's Doctor Who/TARDIS Eruditorum things, but. I dunno.

Did you just royal we?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI haven't been doing it this time!
I mean, I didn't post the things about Christopher Lee or the knowability of intent! Those aren't Doctor Who things!
I mean, I wish Christopher Lee was a Doctor Who thing. That'd be kinda rad.
...Unless we did a thing what with the Seventh Doctor being in the Hobbit.
Blakean Doctor Who. It's about Doctor Who, sorta.

I'll restrain myself, from now on, don't worry. I just didn't know where else to ask.

Oh God! Natural light! It's fine. I mean, I at least try to do something semi-Doctor Who related every time. Unless I forget. I try not to make a habit of it though.
For instance, "what the $*@! do you mean by Big-Ass Science" isn't actually a side-essay in the Tom Baker volume. I checked.
Ahem: "It's probably the Rani".
There. Now nobody else has to do it.
Instead of a multi-Doctor teamup, there should be a multi-TARDIS teamup.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAgreed.
EDIT: I can't help but notice that female characters are always secretly the Rani, and male characters are always secretly the Master when these theories come up.
Which, I mean. It could possibly be the other way around.

I'm partial to the whole "Missy- Mistress- Master" connection.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I, for one, am hoping that Missy is the Master, but that seems to grow more unlikely as the season goes on. We'll see, I guess.
Oh God! Natural light!I mean, I'm not entirely sure why the Master would want to be in charge of the afterlife.
For all we know it's for a disguise or he was picking up debris from the battlefield of a Cyberman war. I'm not worried. The only thing I'm worried about is recurring villain fatigue. I mean, I was tired of Daleks before Into the Dalek and I've been tired of Daleks after Into the Dalek even though I think Into the Dalek is one of the greatest things ever. I just want, like, a year off form them or something. Same with the Cybers.
