You know, I've said it before, but all this business with Old sets up Patrick with the perfect way to "die" and yet still live out a life away from all the drama. It's such a classic trope that I halfway expect it to be subverted somehow, but all its elements have thus far been played perfectly straight.

They had to know what was going to happen. Martin didn't tie himself up.

I suppose the question then becomes, assuming Dan did just double-cross his son, what exactly did he just lead him into, if it wasn't that timed gauntlet he mentioned before?

Nothing good, one assumes. Maybe Dracula offered to return Gordito if they led Doc into this trap?

Whatever it is, this is definitely an effect of the curse. The McNinjas visibly do not want to be doing this, which is what I was getting at a while back when I said the best magic is subtle. They haven't turned against him, but events have conspired in such a fashion as to make Doc's very family betray him.

Yep. it's an effect of the curse. Rad's legion of doom declaring their intent to kill Patrick was the culmination of the curse, and this whole situation is fallout from that.
