Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundFrom what he's said, it sounds like having the kid was Surma's idea and that Tony went along with it because he was sure he could use Science! to save her, so when he failed he felt like he killed her himself.
Tony has a lot of problems. He needs help.
I've heard tell of a mystical type of witch doctor called a therapist. The Court is obviously big into fringe science. Perhaps they've got such a witch doctor.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I'm sure people have *tried* to make Tony go to therapy. I'm just as sure that he was less than cooperative at the time.
I strongly suspect that the only person who can get through to him at this point is Annie, but she's not without her own issues, *especially* when it comes to her father. This is going to be a difficult, messy process.
He seems to be pretty open around Mr Donlan.
But you are right in that he probably won' t be very cooperative if put under treatment. The guy is dangerously unstable and self-destructive. He honestly seems to have no concern for his own well being.
Tony has a weird combination of 'I know best about everything' and 'I am a complete failure who does everything wrong and knows nothing.'
I should hope so.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Really got to get myself a Cool Beans shirt.
Avatar from here.Annie looks so confused at the idea that her father may have once been a person who people actually liked.
Huh, this is some seriously black and white thinking.
I will continue to assert that these beans are rather quite hot.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Frontispiece.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Hey, it's a Hemipteran.
I didn't write any of that.AKA a true bug. Also, cue flashback!

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)It feels so 70s.
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️I was thinking that. Well, except for Tony. He somehow manages to be 1948 personified whenever he is (you know it's bad when the 70s lad somehow manages to out-40s Mort).

Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Donald looks like he's in danger of singing about how all you need is love.

HIS HAIR
Tom's put up a much happier picture of Donnie and Anja on his twitter. Apparently the outfits are retro even for the time of the scene, so were they at a 70s themed party or something?
Avatar from here.Oh, that makes sense. I was trying to puzzle out their age, but something had seemed off about the time.

I think it's more likely that Tony had a plan to prevent Surma from dying, but it didn't work. Or that it did work but would have killed Annie, and Tony had to choose between saving Annie or Surma. Either would be more than enough to explain his guilt over Surma's death.
Edit: mixed up some names.
