The Forest's been trying to get something into the court— the birds, the shadow who wasn't Shadow that rode back with Robot— since the very beginning of the series. It'll be interesting to finally find out what, and why, and how Jeanne was stopping them.
It's pretty amazing how many mysteries are still left in this comic, how little we actually know about the Court itself.
I don't think it's so much Coyote himself that the Court are worried about. It's probably something else in the Forest, maybe those darker elements Ysengrin keeps reined in.
I have been thinking and I have come to the conclusion that Antimony may very well be manipulated to be the next project of the Court and the Forest.
What has brought me to that conclusion:
- she got her position as the Forest Medium due to manipulations with Renard in the center. She might have ended up like her mother without that influence.
- she was taught by the Court and the Forest
- she is of both human and ethereal decent as well as possibly a Guide now
- her father has been manipulated by some things that might have possibly want to kill her, all while the Court could have stepped in anytime (this makes that matter quite personal)
- she has been informed that there are things the Courtime has no idea about even though they probably should (the Tick-Tocks) and that the Forest also has things to hide.
- Coyotes "all according to keikaku" page
together again
I'm not sure if the panel is supposed to represent the juxtaposition between life and death or if instead it`s hinting at something sinister that was held back by their love.
Well given how this chapter ended I guess now we'll find out if Coyote is just a temperamental trickster or if he has some kind of nefarious goal.
Why can't it be both?

Well when I saw ysengrin' s memory or a ball of light being stolen by coyote and with his blank spots in his memory, I guess that coyote is trying to make him instable or forget all his memory so he (coyote ) can take over the forest with ysengrin out of the way.
HiCoyote already owns the forest. Ysengrim is his butler whom he could cast aside at any moment if he wished.
Unless he only owns the forest because he can control Ysengrin.
I mean, Coyote can knock over buildings and put Annie's fingerprint on the moon (or at least create the appearance thereof). If he does have those powers, I'm guessing the only thing stopping him from doing whatever he wants is some kind of magical oath or prohibition or somesuch.
It's hard to say. Tom plays his cards close to the vest.

Coyote promised not to hurt anyone in the Court, but apparently that doesn't extend to knocking over buildings.
No, seriously, Coyote put Ysengrim into his position of the forest boss as well as given him his powers of gardening. They both are outside arrivals anyway.
There is absolutely no room for "coyote needs to scheme to take control". He has control.
I'm just saying there might be a level we can't see— he controls Ysengrin, and through him the Forest, but there could still be some greater goal he still needs outside help to achieve. He's apparently been playing a very long game, here.
Coyote schemes because he is Coyote. There is not greater purpose necessary.
Sure, it's possible. But even that doesn't forego the possibility of a really *big*, still mostly arbitrary scheme.
After the intensity and drama of this one I hope we have a Breather Episode coming up

Trump delenda estI hope that it goes full speed ahead. All aboard the drama train!
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️I'm itching for some aftermath
Yeah and I wonder what kind of spell or metal is used to make that trident like arrow because It would be cool to build one in my metal forgery at my house.
HiWell, unless you plan on using it to trap a soul at the bottom of a river I don't imagine it especially matters what kind of metal it's would be made with in the case of a fan recreation.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! No I just think it would look awesome for a Halloween costume.
Hi
I mean, Coyote's already waltzed on over to the Court and toppled a building, even with Jeanne in place, so I'm not sure why he'd need to wait for her to go if he'd wanted to wreak havoc.
