Looking at the Jiraiya vs Pain battle, and I have to say it still ranks as one of my all time favorites.

Yup, that was a good one. All of Nagato's battles were pretty good really.

According to what I read, Naruto's true seasonal rot began after the Pain arc.

I think it started earlier, that's just one of the multiple points where the rot begins to accelerate.

The war arc was another of these points. And then there were several more during the war arc itself.

I think I might be one of the few people who doesn't actually hate Kaguya that much. Probably because I despised Madara and Obito just frustrated me. So when she randomly appeared, I said to myself, "huh...so that just happened. Okay then."

At the very least, you can get some laughs out of her arc.

For me, the Seasonal Rot didn't begin until after the Sasuke vs. Itachi fight. Itachi being Good All Along is where I personally think marked the beginning of the end for Naruto.

I honestly thought that Tobi was lying at the time. Oh yeah, the guy who helped Akatsuki in their plan to TAKE OVER THE WORLD is a good guy,hahahaha! The genocide was totally good guys! Killing that kind old man Uchiha from Sasuke's flashback totally saved the village from war! I even rationalized that the Amaterasu who hit "Madara" was probably a genjutsu. Just after being hit with that Tobi seemed to be completely well.

Was when Itachi confirmed that it was true in the War Arc that I realized that Kishimoto wasn't playing. It's like discovering that your favorite film maker has turned into Tommy Wiseau, and it is happening for years.

Danzo already confirmed it during his fight with Sasuke. Also Itachi shoving a crow down Naruto's throat FOR SOME REASON that became hilarious later when we learned why.

Main problem that comes from itachi being good all along was that any action he made that was excused as him being a sociopath stops making sense.

Like mind raping his brother for no apparent reason.

From my experience posting online at the time, people first started to sour on the series post-Gaara Rescue Arc; Sai was largely considered a Base Breaker at the time and readers resented how overpowered Sasuke seemed to have become in comparison to Naruto and Sakura.

And then the next two arcs largely put Naruto Out of Focus (save for the Kakuzu fight), so this is when the Sasuke Hatedom solidified.

The Pain stuff in general started to win back the good will of the audience, but following that is when all the Uchiha wanking went into overdrive.

You can't compared Jotaro & Sasuke cause Jotaro eventually realized his bullshit ruined his relationship with his daughter. Its one of the main plots of part 6. The fact that Jotaro never really changed & remained a nineties anti-hero well into adult-hood utterly destroyed his relationship with his daughter especially since he actually is divorced so even his marriage broke-down. So unlike Sasuke the narrative called Jotaro out on his bullshit & he spent the rest of the part trying to repair his relationship with Jolyne.

Or, in other words, because it actually had consequences. The main issue with Sasuke is that his actions don't have consequences for him. Not bad ones anyway.

Sasuke is basically the protagonist from those really bad powertrip fanfics, where nothing ever goes wrong for them, they're treated as good people even though they'd be Complete Monster material in a manga that didn't ignore their selfishness, they get tons of free powerups and they're super sexy 'n shit.

I really hate when I make comparisons and people think that I,Vengeance Is Mine,is saying that each little aspect of that character is resembling of that other. I saw a similarity, I didn't said it was equal.I said it was similar! Goddammit!
