Then again that requires you to bring up the complicated political,Economic relationship the ninja world runs on and give the other side some type of identity outside of the Generic minions of the bad guys.

Depends on if he could even beat Pain, Konan nearly killed him and there is no way he'd fight without her backing up his main body. Especially if Pain used his Retconned into existence ability to absorb enough chakra to cure his body being weak as well. All the six paths in a single body plus the Gedo Statue that has every bijuu in it, it'd probably be a curbstomp.

To be fair, it's likely not chakra in general. he used Bijuu chakra specifically. I doubt he even knew it COULD do that.

And it's not like Nagato would have even been given the chance to try that, since he's a) a cripple, and b) stuck in place by like 12 iron rods embedded into his back.

Y'now what else would liven up the narrative? If Madara ascends to Great Aperabbit Kaguya form in the light of the full moon, everyone is dead or dying even Naruto, it's their Darkest Hour and then Saitama turns up and punches Madara before informing Naruto it's a sale day on carrots.

Also, if Nagato did kill Tobi in an Enemy Civil War, what do you think would happen to Zetsu? I suppose they'd pull a desperation plot, with White unearthing Madara's corpse while Black tried to force Nagato into performing Rinne Tensei... but failing that, where does a purposeless Zetsu go?

He could theoretically just touch the Gedo Statue and absorb it that way, but him not knowing that it was even possible seems likely. I don't see him purposefully nerfing himself just for the lulz-factor of using people Jiraiya ussed to know.

Zabuza was able to move with the rough equivalent of that, but he wasn't crippled. Assuming Nagato could fix that with his chakra absorption he'd be good to go. Regardless, even with his main body being a sitting duck he would still utterly crush Tobi, without his phasing he is the weakest part 2 character by far.

I mean, he nearly lost to Minato who has been worfed to the point I think the Sound Genin could kill him.

I'm pretty sure Nagato could armour himself in Asura path to get over his mobility problems, get himself some sweet rocket boots, a crotch laser and three fuckin' faces. Radical.

Or just use summons to get around. I'm sure he had some Earth or water jutsu that could help given he mastered all five elements.

Tobi's a beast, though. His Taijutsu skill is really top knock, plus the katon power, the mokuton and the 'take you out of the fight if he touches you' thing...Nagato just has way more power to him.

And deprive himself of rocket assisted crotch lasers? Is he mad?

Regular summon animals what had the same thing as the Paths done to them, I guess.

I just had an irritating thought that makes the Naka shrine tablet even dumber. All the Uchiha must have known about ninshuu but did nothing with it and not even the Sage expected anyone to ever get the Rinnegan even though he made a section only readable with it.
