• Polished Port: The Steam version of X:BTF, which was originally written for Windows 95, was carefully updated by Egosoft so it would run natively on XP-plus and includes support for widescreen monitors and super-high screen resolutions.
  • Porting Disaster: The widescreen support is so poorly done, however, as to render the game literally unplayable at most of the new resolutions — aspect ratios other than 4:3 are achieved simply by cutting off the top and bottom of the screen, often taking crucial information with it.
