- Awesome Music: The theme tune by Greek composer Yannis Markopoulos. It was actually released as a single and peaked at no. 22 in the British charts.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The show was very popular in the Netherlands.
- Retroactive Recognition: A few examples:
- Ariadne (Babis's secretary in the first episode) is played by Marina Sirtis, a decade before she played Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
- Jo Hebden is played by Lalla Ward, two years before she was Princess Astra, and later the second Romana, in Doctor Who.
- Two involving Blake's 7, the first series of which was broadcast a year later.
- Tony Viglis is played by Gareth Thomas (Blake).
- Sam is played by Sally Knyvette (Jenna).
- The doctor in the last episode is played by Kevork Malikyan, twelve years before he was Kazim in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
- Strawman Has a Point: William Hebden is not wrong when he states that if he really had betrayed a village to the Germans (leading to a massacre of everyone in said village), he would never have even considered returning to Crete.
- Unintentional Period Piece: The fact that the show has middle-aged people who served in World War II means that, to modern audiences, it counts as this. Being set in 1977 (the year in which it was made), the show is also an example of this on account of the fashions and the fact that Everybody Smokes.
- The Woobie: Lorna in the third episode, tricked into flying out to Crete to be with a man who does not actually love her. At least she didn't have to buy her own plane ticket. And, as of the end, Elena, Nikos and Alexis, murdered for reasons they could not possibly comprehend just after all of their problems have been solved and with a bright future ahead of them. Also, Georgios's wife, since her husband was randomly killed by two fugitive criminals on the run (Mateos and his brother), although in her case she is presumably made aware that the pair were subsequently killed.
