• Spoiled by the Format: In Chapter 11, you can conclude that the islands where puzzles 142—146 take place are not the Island of Maya, since if any of them was, the philosopher's journey to find it would have ended there. Likewise, you can surmise that the island in puzzle 147 really is the Island of Maya, since the next puzzle is named "The Map to Baal" rather than "The Seventh Island".
• Values Dissonance: Hoping to marry someone even smarter than her husband, Portia divorces him and issues a second logic-puzzle-based Engagement Challenge. The epilogue to that puzzle basically plays domestic violence for laughs.
  As fate would have it, the first suitor turned out to be Portia's ex-husband. He was really quite right enough to figure out this problem too. So they were remarried. The husband took Portia home, turned her over his knee, gave her a good sound spanking, and Portia never had any foolish ideas again.
