• Angst? What Angst?: Lena is described as not having shown a trace of sorrow over what happened to Robin, which makes everyone think she's the one who poisoned her at first. It turns out she actually does feel really bad for Robin, she's just good at hiding it.
• Strangled by the Red String: Angie and Bert get together in the epilogue, even though they have nothing in common and hardly ever talked in the entire book. The other characters comment on how random it is.
• Tear Jerker: Near the end: Lena (who has mainly been portrayed as some kind of Alpha Bitch type for most of the book) Admits she feels really guilty she can't do anything to help Robin, and just breaks down crying in front of everyone.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Park is supposed to be likable, since he's Shani's closest friend since childhood, and Shani has a positive opinion of him. However, he comes off as extremely selfish. He was Robin's boyfriend but he left her immediately after her accident, instead of supporting her when she's sick. He later started dating Angie, despite the fact that he couldn't care less about her and he was just using her for sex (see Angie's description in the chapter from Park's point of view). At the end, Robin forgives him, despite all his selfish behavior.
• The Woobie: Robin, obviously. Originally a sweet and happy Class Princess, she ends up being poisoned by her sister's Arch-Enemy, abandoned by her boyfriend (who dumped her for Angie, Robin's False Friend who secretly hates her), getting sick to the point she can't enjoy anything in life (losing her passions, including her singing voice), and having her entire life dependent on a dialysis machine. She gets better.
