  • Anvilicious:
    • The Who Wants to Live Forever? message at the end gets hammered in too hard and too fast for some fans' taste.
    • Goody's New Media Are Evil feelings about computers and social media get repeated several times.
    • The way recent U.S. presidents have been expanding surveillance over innocent people is frequently and negatively mentioned.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Neurotic but competent and ultimately reasonable Papa Wolf Vampire Hunter Agent Van Helsing and Retired Badass, Historical Domain Character and Mentor Archetype Vlad Tepish only have about twenty minutes of screen time between them, but are probably the most popular characters in the film (with the possible exception of Stacy the Deuteragonist). Being played by Wallace Shawn and Malcolm Mcdowell, respectively, helps.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Ukrainian vampire Vadim's sensitivity about people's seeming inability to remember that his home country is now separate from Russia/The Soviet Union can feel harsher after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 in an effort to reclaim territory they view as being historically theirs.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Cisserus is an unrepentant killer, but she initially seems Laughably Evil rather than cruel. She also shows signs of having Hidden Depths when she becomes enamored with a human singer and vows to win his heart without hypnosis. Then, after failing to seduce the man, she apparently kills him, drains a restaurant full of innocent people as a vampiric form of Drowning My Sorrows, tries to make Goody and Stacy kill the Sole Survivor, and mocks them when they refuse.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The quirky Vegetarian Vampire community of New York and their human allies struggling to avoid exposure due to an aversion of the Undead Tax Exemption trope being the center of the film would have satisfied many fans, but it is only a minor subplot.
